Not getting a contract at Donny, after six weeks of talks etc.

Could he be this other striker?

No, I don't think so either.

There's plenty of strikers who have scored a "excrement load of goals". Why reeves in particular? He must be catching bore and north up for threads on here

He's localish, wants to go professional and is back. on the market.

We are looking for another striker, our managers like dipping into the BSN, we seemingly have a bit of a war chest.

2+2=5, most likely.   Got to believe S&H are monitoring the situation though.

Scores loads of goals, lives localish and wants to go full time, and is available on a free.

Theres a few things why he is more talked about than most other strikers.

44 goals in 42 games for a team in the division below! 26 years old and wants to play for a team localish. Please come here Damian Reeves if you are reading this! Hearn scored 30 goals at Alfreton in the BSN.

This chap is a very, very strange one.
Scored a excrement load of goals at BSN level but by reading his Twitter he's absolutely desperate to get back into the game full time.

Is there another issue there? Rubbish agent? Wanting too much money?

According to his Twitter feed he's only had two offers - one to stay at Altrincham and another from Gainsborough. Although Macclesfield have shown interest.

Is he worth a punt? Tweeted that he'd definitely considering signing for us.

We want another striker. He's desperate to play full time football. Top English goalscorer at ANY professional or semi-pro level. Wouldn't need to relocate from Doncaster.

Surely worth a few hundred quid a week, highly incentivised contract?

Well... we never went in for Jamie Vardy and look what happened there!  Sold for upto 1.7 Million in add ons and more or less got Fleetwood into the league.

No criticism here, but surely Scott and Hurst must realise he is worth a punt?

Guess we got enough strikers now anyway, but still.

I don't know if we went in for him directly but didn't Vardy say he was staying put until Fleetwood came in and threw stupid money about? I'm sure there were plenty of clubs after him.

None the less I'm surprised Reeves hasn't been snapped up yet, I'd definitely take him.

I would imagine the issue signing Reeves would be his fitness. He has been playing part time football and several years, where 2 weeks into pre season and he's still not fixed up. Would he need a lot of catch up work to get him as fit as the rest of the squad?

There must be something about him that we dont know... All those goals at a decent level, on a free transfer, and no concrete offers above BSN level?

Thought so, dunno how he finds the time.

Reeves currently combines playing with his job as a self-employed plasterer and the chance to make football his full-time career is bound to be a massive temptation.

I think his biggest problem his is wage demands, as pointed out he currently plays football and has a decent plastering business going, in order to go full time he wants enough to cover what he currently earns. I imagine most full time clubs in the BSP/Lge 2 don't want to pay that much, and Lge 1 clubs like Doncaster don't feel he can make the step up.

If he really wants full time football that bad, prehaps he needs to lower his wage demands.

I agree, much rather the wages spent on a decent centre half and left sided player.

I agree it would be a great signing, but it's a signing we don't need to make at the minute? We've got 4 strong strikers and a young lad? Where oils he fit it? How would the managers manage to keep 6 strikers happy?

is it possible that working part time football and plastering, he's earning more than most strikers currently do in the BSP? Part-time clubs can still offer him the ability to carry on his "day job"

Maybe RS was referring to Reeves a whole back when he said something along the lines of " We have scouted players who, on paper have fantastic stats, but seeing them play doesn't live up to expectations" or something like that!

Strange how he hasn't been offered anything yet from anyone above BSN level, I did say the other week I'd rather see 2 centre halfs instead of another striker but it is common knowledge S&H are still on the market for another striker, if so he could be ideal. Looking at his twitter page he just desperately wants full time football and is confident in his ability to smash in goals whatever level he is playing at. Seems like money is not an issue as well and he would take peanuts just to be given the chance. Worth a punt IMO?

Must be asking for too much, can be the only reason he's not fixed up.
If we can get him on a fairly average wage, I dont see why we shouldn't take a punt.
But we need to strengthen at the back more importantly.

If money wasn't a problem he would have been snapped up by now, seems pretty clear he wants full time football and he wants enough money to cover his part-time playing and his plastering business, which just isn't going to happen. He will stay part-time or have to reduce his wage demands.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of these stalkers at all but heard he was quite open on twitter about what clubs have been in contact etc so decided to take a look, but here's what he said replying to one person

'all I want to do is play football at the highest level possible moneys never been an issue for me if it's viable id consider it'

another one

'yes can fully understand his situation but then again he wouldnt b paying me thousands a week either Swings and roundabouts'

seems its not all about money, he also said he'd consider signing for town to one tweeter, the lad sounds like he just wants to fulfill his ambition of playing full time football and just needs someone to take a punt...

We don't need another striker now Imo. Would rather see another cm the Derek type and a centre back plus left sided player.

Gk you can get on emergency loan.

Scott confirms in TV interview on official site they still seek experienced Centre Half, a young Keeper to push JM and another wide/forward player.

CM does not seem to be on the shopping list - assuming he is not throwing us red herrings.

We got Artus, Disley, Thanoj and Niven in CM. A pacey LM needed in the ilk of Colbeck will do just fine. two direct wingers ably supported by attacking wingbacks will make us a real force this season. Plus Centre half to push Pearson/Miller and a back-up keeper and thats a squad of 20.

Not convinced with just niven as our main ball winner, with him Only playing 8 games last season, although he looks a quality signing  just think its sods law he will get injured and we'll be left with disly playing that role and that's were I think we'll come unstuck and lose vital points. Could be wrong though.

but, there IS this stumbling block as to why other teams havent picked him up before.
agree looking at his stats on soccer base has a ok strike rate 0.27(though maybe just hasn't found a club that suits his mindset ).

Maybe he's been holding out for a league club

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

Thought so, dunno how he finds the time.

Reeves currently combines playing with his job as a self-employed plasterer and the chance to make football his full-time career is bound to be a massive temptation.

Strangely enough, I live in Doncaster and was looking for a plasterer last year, there was one called D.R plastering run by a Damian Reeves, lives about 2 minutes from my house never thought anything of it til now..
Can go knock on his door and ask what we don't know and why he can't get a club

I'd probably be more interested in his plastering skills at the moment, I'm not sure we need another striker.
Imagine it would cost me less to employ him as a player after the prices people wanted to plaster a bedroom.
Could fool him into thinking it was pre season training, 'now get rid of the facking artex'

Thank fook for that. Nearly as bad as the Fabregas Barca saga.

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"
