Lewes FC have published their budget online for greater transparancy. All clubs should do this imo and get rid of undisclosed fees.

Yes but if a company comes up and say we shall pay your stewards if we get some free advertising you wouldn't say no, i know that we are losing money cos of free advertising but we are gaining it more because we don't pay the stewards so it turns out the are saving money. And making a profit on that part so you can't argue

Not necessarily. Depends what the advertising prices are compared to the cost of stewarding.

Well each steward gets around 330 pound per year, about 60 stewards?

Is that the truth? because the accounts show matchday staff of 200+ if we weren't paying the stewards they wouldn't show in the accounts as staff costs. So if the 200+ matchday staff didn't include stewards what the hell are those 200 staff made up off?

Catering staff are an outside company so therefore will not show up. I'd guess at Medical, Policing and Clubshop as well as the stewarding

Exactly therefore the stewards are paid for by the club looking at the accounts and not some magical company getting free advertising. So if Aaron wants to lay off 150 staff then his dad better be first in the queue. Plus how many stewards do we have to have at a minumum on H&S grounds.

My only argument is that we had 200+ matchday staff in our championship days when we had 5k+ attendences, and we have the same amount now when we are lucky to get 3k crowds, so why hasn't matchday staff decreased?

I personally think we should have the absolute minimum we amount of stewards we are allowed for the majority of games. Except Lincoln, Luton, Stockport and maybe Wrexham I do not see the need of having anymore than 50 stewards. It just seems that half of them stand at the gates having a chat and not doing anything productive which is annoying when they will be getting paid and getting into the ground for free. I am sure alot of people would be willing to do the job for nothing if they were to gain free admission.

Police certainly won't count as staff, they are not employed by GTFC, any inside the ground will count as police costs.

Groundsmen will probably be full time staff, not matchday staff.

Sia guidelines state a minimum of 1 security per 100 customers in the industry i work. stewards are sia regulated so there will be minimum numbers guidelines in place to, not sure if its differant to the 1 per 100 though

what i meant fella, was that the poilce cost could be included as a matchday cost.

and wasnt sure if they had to get extra ground staff in on a match day

The tannoy/pa bloke has been paid the same amount for the last 3 years, and that ammount is nothing as its been done voluntary,
I belive that like allot of none league clubs all match day staff should be voluntary where ever possible.

Most clubs in non league don't get 3K plus crowds or generate the kind of money commercially that we do.

Seriously, as a fan, I wouldnt want paying as a steward. Having free entry and having half an eye on the match, the other on the crowd would do for me. I know some of the stewards are in need of a Sat afternoon job before they go working as bouncers, or doormen or whatever they are called now on a night, and good luck to them is what I would say.

But it boils down for me to the fact that, as mentioned several times on here over the course of the last 2 seasons, is that we often have far too many stewards in the away end looking after a dozen away fans. The costs paying the stewards to looking after a dozen or so away fans will be in excess of the gate money the away fans give to us, I'm sure of it. One match, cannot remember which one, I'm sure that we had more stewards in the away end all match than we had away fans!!

Stewards are needed, not just for trouble, there could be a number of reasons, ie a roof collapses on a stand and fans need moving to safety.

Of course they should be paid, not all get to watch the game, you are mistaken if you think this.

Program sellers, when I sold them received a basic amount which was £5 back in 2001 with 'X' amount per hundred. Again on occaisions you missed half a game, I did when we beat West Brom 5-1 at BP.

Also I remember so great banter with away fans and also thinking, get out of here' when a few hundred Sheff Utd fans were hammered and becoming agitated

Those doing the jobs deserved to be paid, if they are doing the job well.
