Just been reading on twitter that the fixture list comes out on July 2nd.  With that in mind, who would you all like on the opening day?

Lincoln, then at least we know our record of playing the future champions on the opening day will end.

Think it could actually be important to our season to get a nice easy start get some points on the board and make sure we're at the right end. With that in mind something like Telford at home would do me.

Traditionally there is always a good crowd for the opening day of the season, full of optimism etc, so for me give me a good game against mansfield as they will bring a few certainly, would have loved it to have been york city, but alas they went up. it would be good for any new faces to the ground, ie youngsters to see a good crowd and bit of atmospehere and then maybe just maybe they will keep wanting to come back,

Might be all change this season as Gateshead don't have Darlo to play and Mansfield don't have York? Don't think it's guaranteed your nearest team as that could potentially leave something ridiculous like Gateshead and Braintree left over.

Its has a very good chance of that happening. Which means I'll be very unlikey to be able to attend either Lincoln match again as I'll be working Boxing Day and New Years Day again.  The bloke who does the fixture list thinking this will help fans out with short trips makes no consideration of me having to work those days does he, the illegitimate!!!

Could this not be changed due to the teams coming up? I know our local game is against Lincoln but what about other teams.

I'm expecting FGR away as we've started against the moneybags teams for both of our seasons down here now. I want an opening game against someone we can thrash. Alfreton or Stockport please.

Somebody like Alfreton away. A closeish team to take a big crowd with the expectations of us winning.  Lincoln should be reserved for an easy 6 points over a busy Christmas!

Always think it is best to avoid the promoted teams in the first few months. Their enthusiasm often carries them through the first few months before they start to get found out.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Christmas games change.

For Christmas I will predict...

Lincoln City v Mansfield Town
Grimsby Town v Alfreton Town. (Which will just go to show how stupid the Conference board really are, after the trouble there last season)

As for the opening day of the season......Nuneaton away.

It's boring trying to guess it but I think the order can make a difference. If we started Wrexham away, Luton at home, Mansfield away and lost all three or only got a point or two then that'd put us right on the back foot, crowds will dwindle, confidence will be knocked. Get something like Telford at home, Alfreton away, Nuneaton at home and win all three then the opposite will happen. We'd still have all the harder games to come but we'd be challenging at the right end, confidence would be high, crowds better etc
