In the past a few have posted that GTFC should set up something like Hartlepool (?) did this season when, if a certain number of fans pledged to buy season tickets the price would be very low.

It seeems Stockport tried to sell theirs for £120 each if they got 4875 pledges. Sadly they fell well short.

Was there not a tiered system in place somewhere? The earlier you buy it the cheaper it was? That may be a plan to get a decent amount of cash in before the season begins again.

Wasn't something similar tried at Bradford and it nearly sent them to financial meltdown?

Hartlepool United did it last season or the season before on a sliding scale - something similar to 1000 tickets sold = season tickets at £300
2000/£200, 3000/£150. That's not correct but it was like that and very successful.

Surely there is one loony in the town who would pay a million pounds for a ticket, then our non-chairman could guide us towards losing approx £900k so we would be £100K up on the season and everyone could go about their everyday business.

I'm sure I read/ heard an interview where JF's season ticket worked out at approximately £15,000 per game

Vale did it quite successfully a few seasons ago, and sold well over 5000, funny part was that towards the end of what ended up being a really bad season less than 4000 were turning up for some games.

Hmmmmm.....i see the annual great season ticket debate has started then.
Quennybantam will no doubt be back on again some time soon.

I predict a zero change policy on last year so not really worth debating......unless of course the trust have negotiated a deal for their members only? ..but .......only if you were a member before the vote issue and........ if you voted yes in the vote issue.

Thanks for that. There's a telling line at the bottom there.

"Huddersfield Town slashed their adult season-tickets to just £100. The deal – to mark the club's centenary – saw 16,000 season tickets sold, almost doubling their average gate."

I know they had a new ground and stuff but you've got to speculate to accumulate and all that! I know I'd certainly buy a ST this year if they were £100. I like to buy early birds tickets as I can't guarantee getting to every game but at £100, it would make huge sense plus the club would be better off during the summer months of no attendees at BP.

Come on JF, make the call......

If you want no match day income then the £100 season tickets are the way to go.Bradford have abandoned them after saying they could no longer afford to do them.
They ended up selling them again at xmas time because they had reduced cash flow , some at Lincoln wanted the club to do them but no chance we just have not got the fanbase to do it and we have just lost another 225k with the parachute payment stopping after one season.
It would have been financial suicide to do it and i think no clubs at our level should ever do this.

Low priced season tickets just don't make good business sense otherwise every club would do it. Its ok getting loads of extra money in the summer when none is normally made, but if everyone bought low prices tickets then nobody would be buying tickets on matchdays so there would be no income during the season.

Makes more sense to freeze season ticket prices or lower them slightly to encourage sales, then have a winning team so more fans that didn't buy season tickets start paying on the day. Of course having the winning team is what we have been lacking for a long time!

I still think a sliding scale for them could be a way forward. First group of people to buy get them for £100, the next for £150 and so on up until they're the normal price near the start of the season.
