When's it ever been legal to publish stuff about ongoing cases?
Only if a court puts a media ban on the case for several reasons. I didn't think the police had the right to censor forms of media or am I wrong? |

This excrement happens all the time, very serious crimes are committed regularly, particularly involving youngsters and less than 1 percent make the news/media.
It was only a matter of time before the police did this. Thems the rules...people might not like it but tuff titties. A big like the thread in question really... Did she say it? If yes then why the debate and the over the top reaction, she is guilty of a crime, if no then why did the cronies of the alleged over react etc.

As soon as someone is arrested for an offence that matter becomes sub judice, which means that whilst reporting of the case is allowed, what is written or said is strictly limited to the facts as they are known. Personal opinion and speculation are outlawed and any such behaviour can lead to a contempt of court charge for both the author and the publisher which is why the latter often takes the action that they do. And for the record sub judice is there to protect the integrity of the trial and uphold the presumption of innocence, not as some may think a means to allow authority to suppress events. |

Yes and no. Offended? Definitely. Libelled? No. Either way, that was five years ago when I was 15. This thread and the whole 'case'  surrounds fully grown 'adults'. Don't really see the relevance either way. For what it's worth, didn't see the point of this thread at the time and still don't. Obviously the police didn't contact the Fishy about locking the thread in question but people were made aware that it'd become part of investigation because of the assault on Pontoonlew and therefore makes perfect sense for the mods/admins on here to lock it thus to stop anyone editing posts or adding to an already very sorry, ugly mess anyway. KOTK sums it up perfectly. Not rocket science. |

Some people take this website far too serious...it's designed to discuss all matters football. Who's gives a excrement about some overweight woman's racial tendencies, some people who take themselves too seriously and people who seem to think this is life....
The police will deal with the matter which for the person in question would more worrying than a few peoples opinions on a message board. The fishy have acted appropriately in order to maintain the running of the website that many of us like to use for things other than childish spats...
