Funny how alot wanted him to be our manager last year despite flipping up with Cambridge and now it appears with Luton too, hopefully we don't follow Luton's path of sacking managers every season down here and keep ours to build on a successful team for next season.

I think his body language, after York scored their winner last night said it all.....he had that look of somebody who knew that the end was near.

I could see some of the Luton fans booing him off at the end of the game against us, and last night they was chanting "we want brabin out I say we want brabin out!"

No surprise, he's been a dead man walking for weeks, of not months.

I don't think i've ever witnessed a player whom appeared less likely to make the transition to Management / Coaching, than ex-doorman, journeyman thug, scouser Brabin.
No suprises he's failing miserably.

Luton fans are making out like they're going to be relegated, they still have a great chance of making the play offs however all I ever hear from their fans is negativity

Its been a long time coming lads, hopefully Carden is next after the Gateshead game. Nice bloke but was tactically inept and his 'jobs for the boys' mentality didn't help his cause. Good luck in your further endeavours Mr Brabin.

Genuine question, didn't he get Cambridge into the play-offs in his first season, then left after a bust up with the chairman? If so how did he intercourse them up?

Iirc he spent a hell of alot of money at Cambridge, and failed to get them promoted. This is why he was deemed a failure there. Someone "up above" must have sanctioned said spending of course, but that's another subject.

Think they were about 20 points behind Burton at one point too, only finished a couple off.

I'm surprised it's taken as long as it has. I'm a great believer in giving managers time, but Brabin has monumentally underachieved. Luton should have been, and were, one of the favourites for the title this season; they're in danger of missing out on the play-offs. If they bring in the right man now I wouldn't be shocked if they go up in a few weeks time. Martin Allen's name is being mentioned but if I were in charge at Kenilworth Road I'd go for Iain Dowie.

Did well at Torquay but as soon as a bigger club came in (Bristol rovers) and the pressue got put on him he messed up.Would love them to get Newell , we could write them off next season if they did.

Martin Allen been touted in the press...
I am surprised he has gone but the fans have high expectations, I guess like our fans...
IF we had our winning run from the start of the season and then messed up in the final quarter, do think the majority of our fans would be the same? Hell they was in the first few months!

Allen would be an excellent appointment at this stage of the season. I've never been convinced that he's a very good manager but he's just the man to motivate the team over ten matches. I rather fancy Luton Town to be promoted via the play-offs a few weeks from now providing it is Allen and it's this week. It would probably be the best thing from a Grimsby Town viewpoint as having Luton out of the BSP for next season has to be a blessing.

I've spent a lot of time on "Luton Outlaws" since Brabin's sacking; Uncle Tom Cobley and all are in the frame! Andy Scott's name has been mentioned but that's about all. I do find the posters on "Luton Outlaws" particularly irritating, even by the standards of messageboard users. They seem to find it hilarious to post "inside information"from the inside of their tiny minds. Paul Buckle was favourite yesterday but it's Martin Allen today. As an inveterate follower of new manager sagas I'd expect somebody else to be favourite tomorrow, but I hope Allen is appointed within 48 hours.

I think he would have done alright at Town. Luton is a funny club to be honest; remember this is where Mike Newell actually looked like a decent manager in contast to GTFC and Hartlepool. Brabin has good Non League knowledge and a 100% no nonsense attitude. BUT he played for Hull and was a thug.

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/luton-specials/next-permanent-managerPaul Buckle 8/11 Martin Allen 4/1 14/1 bar Hasn't Martin Allen got a habit of picking teams up ? Worth a fiver ? Would Iain Dowie (ex-Luton 20/1) drop that low and go back ?
I'd expect Iain Dowie to jump at the chance of managing Luton Town and he'd be my first choice for the job, but though his name's been mentioned, from the outside he doesn't seem to be in the picture. Martin Allen has certainly got a habit of picking teams up which is why I think he'd be an excellent choice with 7+3 games to go. I wouldn't stick a fiver on; next manager markets are the most difficult to predict, unless you have inside information.

I agree with Rokerite. Allen did superbly, almost instantly, with both Barnet and Notts County last season. And with Brentford a few years back (helping relegate us).
