To cheer us up and have a little bit of fun for those lads who have all the records,
WHO IS THE BEST PENALTY TAKER FOR TOWN

Players who I can mention from my time are Ron Cockerill, Stuart Brace, all good spot kick men indeed they tell me that George Mc Clean was a good penalty taker.

Go on then give it a go and if this has been done before pleas accept my apoligies

Ashcroft, about half his goals tally in 99/00 were penalties won by Jack

Super Clive. You just knew he would score.

Jim Thompson?

May be the modern game but I dont think we saw as many penalties in the 'olden days'. How many did we have in the 71-72 season?

Wasnt Duffy heralded by Mansfield as the best penalty taker ever? Has he taken any for us?

Has to be the late Paddy Johnston from 1950's who slid the ball with the inside of his left foot with pin point accuracy all along the ground passed a bemused goalkeeper - pity no video evidence exists of this object lesson in expert penalty placement.

Waters for me too, although the pen that was taken by Groves Vs WBA was hit so hard it nearly ripped the net off... (I hope it was Groves and my memory is not playing tricks)

Batch, Crombie, Moore K, Wiggington, Cumming, Waters, Bonnyman, Ford, Emson, Drinkell, Whymark. Love you all, You are the reason I'm on here. You've had help from Todd, Handyside, Futcher P, Groves, Mendonca, Macca etc etc etc. Up The Mariners!!!!!!!!!

For placing them in the bottom corner Paddy  Johnstone and Joe Waters , but for sheer power,
Dave Gilbert.

In this day and age with keepers so much bigger I'd go with power every time.
