Reading the GET it looks like Hearn and Coulo are going to miss out. I can't see the starting XI being much different from what has been suggested: Town (possible):- McKeown, Silk, Miller, Pearson, Townsend, Soares, Disley, Wood, Winn, Elding, Duffy. Subs:- Church, Thanoj, Hughes-Mason, Garner, I'Anson.

Come on Town - we can still do it!! 6 points from the next two games and we'll be fully in the hunt for  play-off place again!

We are TOWN!

Wood better not be in midfield again. Thanoj or a semi-fit Artus are better central midfield options than him by a considerable margin.

Give Soares a place on the bench.
The one in Peoples Park so he can watch the Ducks.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Lay off Soares. Alright he has not set the place alight but it is early days and he clearly has not settled in yet. He nearly scored us a winner on Sat, hit he post. We really need someone like him in the team ho can attack the box from deeper positions a get goals from there. Remember folks were slagging Elding off when he first played for us. Be patient, this lad will come good.

Well said oldun, there's no doubt he's got ability.

Bad pitch, passing on the floor might be an afterthought.
Be very tempted to go with a competitive midfield pair of Wood and Church (but I won't)

If no Hearn...

..............McKeown
Wood.....I'Anson....Garner....Townsend
Soares...Church.....Thanoj ......Winn
...............KHM.......Elding

Subs: Pearson, Silk, Artus, Coulson, Duffy.

Partly cos surely we've got to give a breather to the likes of Silk, Disley, Coulson ?
Not saying they can't perform but what are we expecting ?
Keep the same side all the way to the end and win the lot including at Luton ?

Sorry just can't see it without rotating personnel to give the squad the best chance.
Hopefully when Luton comes around there'll be some nice selection problems and competition for places.

Anyway good luck lads !

I'm with you Oldun

He's not played that well since he came to us but he's got to be given time to settle in to the team and adjust to his new surroundings

I would have been well pleased for him if his shot that hit the post had gone in on Saturday...not only for the 3 points but just to get the moaners off his back.

All it needs is one moment like that (as happened to Elding earlier in the season with his corner flag celebrations) and his confidence could well soar!

Excuse the pun!

Tut! Tut! TAGG.

Now that S&H are doing relatively well, seems you need someone else to moan about. It was you who said Toot and Ploot (as you called them) were amateurs who were no better than Sunday league managers.Shows your depth of football knowledge.

Just about everyone around me in the Upper on Saturday were saying "Soares is sh1t" or words to that effect. He may not be playing well but tha doesn't make him a crap player.Give the lad a chance.

Just remembered one guy in the Upper who said that Soares wasn't good enough for us and should go back to that pub team he played for.Someone pointed out that he scored 16 goals for them and if they were a pub team,he must be one hell of a player to achieve that.

He had no reply.

Would have Bradley back in defence to give Silk a rest , the last few games he hasn't been at his best . KHM ? would you start with him or bring him on as an impact player when the opposition are getting tired ?

No Miller!  Why?

Just think giving the other 2 an opportunity could provide more competition for places come Luton.
I'm just a big believer in squad rotation.

After Hursts comments has keeping the same team bitten us on the backside in terms of tiredness/freshness ?
I wondered if tiredness was creeping in myself after Southport but mention it after a victory and while the sun is shining, you get slagged off.

There's 2 choices.
Wait until the team loses and change it (reactive)
Change it before the team loses (proactive)

We may have more chance of a victory with the strongest team (though I'm not convinced fresher players might not help), but as I said, can the same team keep winning until the end of the season ?

Can't see it - obviously I'd love to be proved wrong.
I'll hazard a guess the suspects for the tiredness list are Townsend(not much we can do there), Coulson, Silk and Disley (and perhaps even Hearn but I'd always play him anyway if fit)

As it happens I guess we'll see some changes tonight anyway.

Not overly confident tonight whatever the lineup tonight tbh but if we're chasing promotion think our best chance is making it into a squad affair and get everyone chipping in to the cause.

If we can win with a changed lineup, no doubt we're in a stronger position when we choose the team for Luton.

I understand and agree to some extent with squad rotation, apart from the back four. One of our biggest issues the last few years has been an unsettled back four, we've now solved that problem so I don't think changing it would benefit us.

I'd put thanoj back in midfield, wood simply isn't good enough, especially in there in my opinion. I would start with KHM up front with elding although I expect it to be Duffy up there with him. Soares will start wide right surely?

You're right in general and if Pearson and Miller were automatic first choice (not sure they are IMO) I'd probably agree 100%.

Just thinking, we've seen what's happened when I'Anson and Garner have been presented their chance through injury to other players before - they've done alright !

If no changes are made apart from Coulo through injury and Hearn through the injury still then i'll be very disappointed. People came out of the match Saturday saying we'd gone back to how we were at the start of the season, I agree although performances haven't been that good for the last few games, and defence in particular looks really troubled at the minute. To me we need to freshen things up, changes should be made, starting with Wood in for Silk at RB..too many players have been out of form in the past few games and changes are what we need, not having a pop tho...just believe it can help.

Disappointed Silk has been dropped, IMO he has been one of our standout performers in recent weeks! And what has Thanoj done wrong??? I wouldn't have started Coulson either!

Tiredness was mentioned for the Silk change.
Church is more competitive in midfield than Thanoj - guess that's the thinking.

I'm a bit underwhelmed too but 3 points I won't complain.
