I'm going to be Devil's Advocate and suggest a couple of changes for the York game - adventurous, perhaps, but a pacey team to outrun York with skill in there as well.

                McKeown,

Wood, Miller, Pearson, Townsend,

Hughes-Mason, Coulson, Disley, Winn,

           Hearn , Elding.

Subs- Soares, Silk, Duffy, Thanoj, Church.

Reasons -

Wood, pacier and more aggressive than Silk for this game,
Hughes - Mason for graft and pace out wide to supplement
Winn, who deserves his first start,
Coulson to run inside and to link with
Disley
, the two of them to provide the pure skill in the middle of midfield.

Just my thoughts on an adventurous line up to gee up the goalscoring potential in front of home fans !

I like it. It has alot of merit - reckon we'd have a good start with that line up.

Its hard enough remembering my opinions without remembering my reasons for them!

The other line up from me would have to consider Hearn not being fully fit, and I would then slot K H-M up front with Elding, move Thanoj up into midfield and put Coulson back out on his wing, and give Hearn the last 30 minutes if fit enough to make the bench.

I think Coulson needs to be dropped, he hasn't been effective for weeks! I'd go for Thanoj in for church, KHM in for Coulson and Winn in for Soares!

Simple change for me, thanoj in midfield for church and Winn wide left for soares. Don't change a back four if you can help it. They were never really troubled yesterday. We didn't support the front two from midfield or knock it about enough, thanoj gives you that option.

I'd put KHM on the bench instead of church I think or soares...

If Coulson is not right side he should sit on the bench, lets not try and squeeze him in just because he has done a job before. IMO his form has dropped but maybe a better choice than Soares on the right.

Does anyone know if Soares is left or right footed... Haven't quite figured it out yet!

Also I really do feel quite sorry for KHM, he has played what, 10 minutes since signing? He has played well when coming on and has a goal to his name! He only has a contract until the end of the season and must be chomping at the bit to be given a chance to show what he can do, unfortunately he doesn't look like getting that chance, which I think is a shame!

If we make changes we have to make simple swaps, not square pegs in round holes, we've been caught out by that before...

Fully agree! As the managers have been picking on merit Coulson deserves to be dropped and KHM given a chance. We also need people who can pass the ball when at home, so Thanoj should definitely start.

say what you will about coulson's form, he's still top of the assist charts this season.

Thanoj for Church and Winn for Soares.

KHM needs a place on the bench.

Whens the last time he made an assist though? i agree to be fair, he should start but if he dosn't improve take him off around 60-70 minutes and give the young KHM a go depending on whats needed, because coulson pulls alot of weight getting back and is often in the right place on the right.

I've said for a while lets put Coulo in CM but Tuesday is not the game for it, not when they play 3 in the middle(a strong 3).

Leave him on the right wing and play Winn on left.

We will be over run in central midfield again because York, like FGR will have 3 in there to our 2. The key is our full backs.

Silk got a lot of stick on here last night and people are suggesting he gets dropped. Once again his superb cross led to our opener yesterday.

I guess it will be Scot kerr who sits in front of their back four and controls the game. We need to either make sure one of our strikers drops a little deeper or we match them with 3 central midfielders and push someone into his face throughout

Would bring Winn in for Soares but I'd leave Church in if he's fit. York like time on the ball and to play a bit and think Church is our best counter to that in terms of energy and ability to close down, get a foot in. Agree with BlackBoots re full backs will have to give us width as think Winn/Soares and Coulson will have to tuck in and help out a lot.

Really looking forward to Tuesday and hoping for a good crowd - that free-kick has to be worth an extra 500 or so doesn't it?

                McKeown,

Wood   Miller   Pearson   Townsend,

Hughes-Mason  Thanoj  Disley  Winn

                 Hearn   Elding.

Subs- Soares  Silk  Duffy  Coulson  I’anson

Wood in for his physical presence.
I would leave Elding in because he knows he owes us one after a stinker yesterday.
Coulson looks like he needs a rest.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Love how people are wanting to drop Elding now, and speaking negatively about him. Fickle idiots, obviously not watching his game close enough to realise what he adds to the team

Exactly my view after fleetwood game elding does a lot of unnoticed work for the team, yet the fickle fans don't don't really understand the game only remember some bad touches, peno miss. But don't really see or appreciate the work he actually gets through for the team. Ok Liam scored, but yet know one has come on here and said he was way below par, carry an injury ok, if this is the case be honest an say ya struggling.. Back to elding could just see the disappointment on the lads face with the peno miss, he was gutted, but it happens..after the game still appreciated the fans an was almost saying sorry for the misses.. I love his overall effort an commitment..he gives 100% every game isn't that what we say if a player put the town shirt on and wears it with pride that's all we can ask..and for me elding does that in abundance..just some fans are so fickle it's untrue..

i could not make the cup match so how close a match was it?
From memory of the first league game York were widely acepted as being a decent side that had us chasing shadows, was the cup game closer?
Do those who have seen the other two games this season think we have a realistic chance against them?

I was surprised Woods wasn't given the job of taking Brodie out of things against Fleetwood- he would have been the ideal man for the job. Play him as a sweeper even?

To be honest I think Disley should make way for Thanoj. He's been below par for weeks and weeks now, don't know how he played yesterday but recently I've come away from matches thinking that he's been one of our worst players along with Coulson. We can't afford to carry passengers at this stage and that's exactly what he's been for us recently IMHO. Any thoughts?

say what you will about coulson's form, he's still top of the assist charts this season.

Thanoj for Church and Winn for Soares.

KHM needs a place on the bench.

1st thought...

This.

Im tempted myself to make a few more changes, but Yorks a massive game so why overhaul whats done us well so far this season.

In my view though. Disley & Coulson need resting/dropping at some point.

2nd thought..

Edit:
Apparently they play 4-3-3.
Ino we're not the greatest at playing this system. But, I'd be tempted to start Hughes Mason alongside Hearn instead of Elding. Start 4-4-2. If were getting over run in the middle of the park then go 4-3-3.

                         Disley   Thanoj
Hughes Mason         Coulson         Winn
                               Hearn

Stick Coulson on they're holding player.
Maybe I'm over thinking it, we'll see.

KHM has done well in the short appearences he's had, but I think it would be too much of a gamble to start him in a game as big as this.
Same side that finished on Saturday for me, with maybe 15/20 mins for KHM at the end.

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

Agree no major changes unless forced through injury. The cup game was close, but we need to stop Scott Kerr having control in midfield, he is a clever playmaker. Anyway this game I s all about us doing what we are capable of and I f we do that 3points are there for the taking. If we cannot do it then we do not deserve to be in the playoffs.

Love how people are wanting to drop Elding now, and speaking negatively about him. Fickle idiots, obviously not watching his game close enough to realise what he adds to the team

Exactly. Look what happened when he missed two games......

Sorry my mistake, honestly didn't mean to do that! I think Silk has been one of our best players in the last few weeks, I think I must've been thinking about possibly giving Bradley a go in midfield when I was typing.

This

Why do people want to make changes for changes sake, as for Coulson he is one of our better players just look at the assists charts and goalscoring charts, one of if not the best winger in the division (minus Vardy) and people say he's not on form, dread to think what he would be like if he really was rubbish.
