Think there's a final window for loan signings at some point in March. Likelihood of a couple of signings? And what positions do we think we actually need, if any at all?

Possibly a centre mid. Don't think Church is quite up to it (yet) and it seems Disley is playing with a knock. As good as Thanoj has been I'd like to see somebody come share the load if Disley's form doesn't improve.

Devitt's only got a month at Accrington and they 're still losing with him playing !

He could definitely make an impact in the run in games if the two managers fancied bringing him in!

Just a centre midfielder becasue of our reliance on disley playing. Except that 'if it aint broke, dont fix it'

I'm happy with the squad at the moment. I wouldn't want to upset the unity as it's clear the lads are all giving everything to return us to the football league. I think we have good cover all over the pitch aside from left back.

Think it's the 29th. A lot of games between now and then, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of fresh faces enter 'the building'.

Talking of bringing players in - has anyone heard if Jamie Green is getting fit or if he's had any treatment for his leg problem??

Is the leg operable or is it intensive treatment required??

i can see manny panther coming back halfway thru march, just as cover if we get any injuries, he's been here before and he'll slot in if needed

also i can see us possibly bringing in someone else up top just to add a different option

Churchy can do that job. He's better at it than Panther and he's one of our own.

I'd say a central midfielder would be all i would consider bringing in. Not that i think we're in desperate need of one, but Disley is clearly carrying this ankle knock and there's no way he's going to get through the 9 games in March.

I'd actually say it has got to the point in the last few weeks that Thanoj's performance level has lead to him taking over Disley's role in the team, whilst Disley is sitting deeper. Thanoj is also now arguably our first choice centre midfielder. If for instance a Panther-type sitting midfielder came in, it'd probably have to be at Disley's expense. But managers never like to drop their captain's so we will see.

I'm not saying Disley should be dropped. As i said, he's been playing a bit of a different role lately (maybe tactically instructed, maybe just due to his ankle) and yesterday most of his good work came in the form of putting in tackles (as 80s pointed out in another thread i think) rather than passing and going forward. But the constant Sat-Tues-Sat during March will end his season early if we don't have someone to rotate him a bit with.

Church could be that man. It's hard to say. He's not started in his actual position since he came back to us i don't think. He seems more savvy with his positioning and mentality now. But the pre-loan Church was a very different player to Panther.

Happy as we are.
The squad is settled now.
If Disley is carrying a knock. Church or Soares could come in. Or even Hughes Mason and tuck Artus inside.

Soares can play centrally as well, I believe? Seem to remember having read that somewhere.

Pretty sure Soares played CM for Hayes??? 16 goals from midfield is not a bad return, give him a shot?

Soares is an attacking winger. He played on either flank in their 4-3-3 system. And I assumed the "centrally" part was him occasionally playing through the middle of the 3 forwards, or even just behind the striker in a bit of a no.10 role. Out and out wingers like that can't really play in cm in a 442 usually.

The new signings should now be slotted in whenever we have knocks or minor injuries being carried at the moment.

I am really looking forward to Louis Soares' delayed debut for us, as he should be able to add to our attacking options.

I would also like to see K H-M given a chance to terrorise defences with his pure pace.

Those who haven't been able to play due to the Trophy games are now like having four new fresher legged league signings for the rest of the season.

Not being unfair to the other centre halves, but I'm really glad that Miller is now back for the rest of this season - he has proven that he can partner any of the other pairings to a very effective level for us.

Does anyone think we should rest Disley on saturday? Surely a CM of Thanoj and Church should be enough, and it would give him over a full weeks rest ahead of a busy schedule. Just a thought.

IMO against the general opinion on here (that we have enough in our locker to see us through to the play offs,) I think we need a loan player in midfield who will give us another alternative to what we have got, ie a power house of a guy to dominate the centre of the park on this important run in.

H&S know this I think and won`t let injury fears spoil what has turned out to be a good season, in our case its not broke but can still do with a little tinkering and fine tuning
