How about someone with the clubs ear suggesting one of the remaining games (lets say against Braintree, 3rd March) as nostalgia day at Blundell Park?

The club via the Telewag and the OS could encourage people to bring their old rattles, wear a Black and White rosette, patch up their Harry the Haddocks and bring them along.

The PA system could play some of the old tunes like ‘Glad All Over’ by The Dave Clark Five, ‘High Ho Silver Lining’ by Jeff Beck, ‘Simply the Best’ by Tina Turner.

Old hero's introduced to the crowd before the game maybe?

What would you ask the club to put on: that would bring back your memories?

None starter, or a good idea?

all ideas are good ideas, and i think it would be reassuring if someone at the club, decided to poll fans. there are loads of ideas going around that are being used by the club now, so it seems the fans are having an input into the clubs well being.

My suggestion of having printable posters for forthcoming games was taken up (stolen from the Telford site) by the club, so who knows if they'd like this idea too?

What a great idea especially if we are up there with a chance to get say for instance a place in the play-offs or a trip to a cup final. We also could ask Elton John to turn up and sing the song My Grimsby which was on one of his albums.

Can't we just instead go and watch some games in black and white on TV in the corner at Cottees?

I'm guessing, but I think Elton John would almost definitely agree to do it.

Maybe a well known Elton John look alike and entertainer would offer to 'Play The Park'?

Anyone think they might know one?

How about all the crowd being aloud to stand for the first 10 mins and the team come out to the sound of Elton John singing " I'm still standing".

I really like the idea of this, it would bring in some older faces too, people who maybe havent been for a while. good shout!

or how about 'black and white day' for the last game of the season against southport, everybody has to wear something black and white, ie a town shirt or a scarf etc etc i know a lot of people do anyway, but if everyone did it would look great. or a coloured card to hold up at the start of the game so it is black and white all around the ground.
the weather should be better by then, and hopefully bp will be full and rocking, would look really great

Do you remember the day we got given those red caps (against Burnley) as we entered BP, everybody had one. My Burnley supporting friend said it looked weird but great also. Pity the new stadium didn't happen, still got two of those caps though.

Even met a bloke in the Dominican Republic with one by the pool of our hotel: I'd got mine on and he thought I'd stolen his!

Fantastic idea, lots of potential - did people eat or drink at matches way back then ?

As for getting Elton, no harm in thinking big.

How about say a Watford vs Town friendly at BP ?
Then after the game, lay on a concert. (like he's done twice at Vicarage Road before)

I believe Bernie Taupin wrote most of the lyrics including "Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting" (which was about Rasen Festival Hall so I've been told)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Taupin

"Taupin sometimes wrote about specific places in Lincolnshire. For example, "Grimsby" on Caribou was a tongue-in-cheek tribute to a nearby port town often visited by Taupin and his friends. More famously, "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" was inspired by Taupin's experiences in the dance halls and pubs of his youth."

Even if any audacious attempt to lure Elton to BP fails, it might be good PR ?
I can already imagine a Look North story !

Maybe someone in an official capacity should e-mail bernie via his website ?

Apparently Elton John has gone on record as saying that "Grimsby" was inspired by his visit here in the mid 70's with Watford. 2-2 draw Elton sat in the old directors box in the Main Stand.

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.

EJ wasn't involved at Watford until the late 70's, long after this song was penned

Also if we have a special game for a local good cause I will donate a signed Elton John Yellow Brick Road album which Elton signed at Blundel Park in the seventies after a night game against Watford and then he went for a drink in the Imp before he went home with all the lads, great days.

A good idea why don't the club coincide this with those "faces" being part of a package deal to mingle with them before and after the game in the players lounge/mcmenemys etc and fans pay a bit more for a special ticket, not sure if the players will turn up for free but you never know.....

How about the team dominate the game, get a two or three goal lead and then throw it away in the last ten minutes and just hang on for a point so we can be nostalgic about the Newell days or play Bradley Wood up front alongside Rob Scott so we can relive the gory days of Lyons? Maybe get Hurst to twit Thanoj with a plate of chicken based food....you get the idea

For nostalgia i miss two things, the score flashes on the scoreboard, banned by Buckley i believe and way back the old half time scores being posted up around the perimeter fence Match a - 2-1...happy days.
