Win what? What is 'it'?

I don't think I said the Irish had won anything (in that respect they are very like England) I said they had been successful under a foreign manager which qualification for the Euros is for them.

They did OK under their other foreign manager too

Once again the sooner we all accept England are no longer a top international side (despite what FIFAs ridiculous ratings say) the better and we won't automatically become one just because the manager is English either

Hary is a c harming lovable rogue no more than that

Anyway Swin this being the FA don`t you see them going for a safe pair of hands like Curbishley,Coppell and hoping for the best?I agree with you regarding where England rate i think they are in if you like the 2nd Group and i only rate Rooney and Hart as World Class so the chances of winning anything are not great.

f`kin stroll on historically Spurs are up there Woz it must be one of the best 6 jobs in England and like this season proves they are big enough and capable enough of challenging.HR has done a top job with Spurs so far based on his brilliance in the transfer market that wont help in the slightest in the England job where you have an ageing squad and only 2 genuine World Class players.

Yeah but he was born on the same land mass as us which is the most important thing apparently. There are no decent English managers so why bother having one?

That is only my opinion as I do not think Harry is the man for the job.

His stats as manager do not lie:

Games: 1,256
Wins: 512
Drawn: 313
Lost: 431
%age: 40.76%

I think that if you are an international manager the win %age needs to be at least 85%-90%, if England are going to succeed then that is the minimum that we require, I just do not believe Harry Redknapp can achieve that.

Well we are certainly agreed on a couple of things - England's standing in the batting order of international teams and the number of really world class players (I'm still not sure about Rooney tho' but I think Phil Jones is gonna be massive! Duncan Edwards springs to mind)

I can't see the FA going for anyone 'safe'. Fans and the media  just wouldn't stand for it for a start and the 'safe' names you mention have been out of the game too long - Curbishley is mentioned for every job going but gets none of them

I am hopeful following the announcement at todays FA press conference that they will appoint the best man available and that he will not necesarily be English, that Hiddink is in with a shout.

Hope Powell - (I am joking btw) - just to see John Terry's face at the announcement!!!

I thought I had seen the end of the world. Desolation, Isolation, Destruction, Mutants and the end of Civilisation.
Turns out bloody Tom Tom had directed me through Scunthorpe City Centre.
