Should get the verdict just after 2ish today.

My prediction is guilty with a suspended jail sentence thus ruining his chances of managing England.

I'll boringly go with exactly the same. Can't see a custodial sentence but the evidence seems pretty compelling - suspended sentence it is.

My old man spent 40 odd years as a tax investigator and he reckons hes going down for a short stretch. probably an open prison holiday camp job. Harry will love it.
And yes Lester Pigott went down for it but Doddy was found not guilty i think. Certainly didnt do time.

Just so you know, the maximum sentence that John Terry can get is £2500 fine.

It's not even at a crown court it's at a magistrates.

Hard to predict what a jury is going to say! The fact the jury don't accept the money was not a bonus says it all!

Expect HMRC to appeal anyway.

Complete waste of everybody's time. They were chasing him for about £100k but this case has cost the taxpayer £8m. That's roughly what Harry has paid in income tax over the last few years. HMRC clowns.

Apparently, members of the press in court were pissing themselves laughing when he claimed, "I've never even sent a text message". Most of them had texts from him stored in their phones at the time!

Harry Redknapp’s dog has described her five year sentence for tax evasion as “feeling like I’ve had my nose rubbed in it”.
Reclusive bone-fan Rosie was found guilty of having an undeclared bank account in Monaco, but maintains her innocence.
“I’m not the most financially astute dumb animal”, claimed Rosie. “You could say I have no concept of money. Normally when my owner gives me a cheque for £180,000, I tear it to pieces or bury it in the garden.
“I have no idea how this one slipped through my paws and ended up in a tax-efficient savings account.
“Also, a five stretch is a very harsh sentence if you convert it into dog years.”
Harry Redknapp has distanced himself from his former pet, claiming her behaviour is a bad influence on him.
“First she craps in my slippers, then she tries to defraud Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs officers”, declared Redknapp. “I’ve a good mind to sell her to Wigan”.
Passing sentence on the greedy female dog, Justice Timmins said he had no choice but to lock her up, in case she tried appealing to the upper chamber with her big, brown eyes.
“Bad doggy”, declared Timmins. “Baaad, baaad doggy.”
Rosie asked for two other cases of rolling in fox excrement to be taken into consideration

Complete waste of everybody's time. They were chasing him for about £100k but this case has cost the taxpayer £8m. That's roughly what Harry has paid in income tax over the last few years. HMRC clowns.

It is a difficult one as in hindsight it seems a waste of time and money and harry clearly contributes masses to the public purse. It doesn't mean he shouldn't be brought to book though if hmrc feel he has evaded tax,  whether that amount is 1k or 500k. Presumably the cps must have thought there was a case too?

Bit late i know, but Kenneth Arthur Dodd got off with it.
I agree with other posters on here that the cost of bringing this to trial was a joke, Besides, how many Jurors are you likely to find these days that have any sympathy with the Taxman.

Was Redknapp guilty ?

Personally I thought not and had sympathy until I heard the conversation between him and the NOTW bloke - didn't he say would sue if anything else was printed contrary to the apparent lie he gave to NOTW ?

I accept it's not proof but it makes you wonder...

To me, something just doesn't ring quite true about the poor little victimised Harry tag that's been put out.

This.

Couldn't believe it when I heard how much the case cost.  £8m of taxpayers money to chase £100k of taxpayers (allegedly) money.  flipping ridiculous, no wonder this country is up excrement creek.

Ignoring whether he was guilty or not, how can it possibly be in the "public interest" to pursue such a case?

He's done a fantastic job at Spurs.  One of the few teams in the prem I'd intentionally watch.

You could apply that to lots of justice in this country though. Where do you draw the line? I would say if you only prosecuted cases that brought value for money the majority of cases wouldn't be pursued.

I see where you're coming from, but it just seems barmy to me.

Likewise. I love to see teams with proper wingers and full backs that push on. So simple but seemingly lost on hallf of these tactical geniuses masquerading as football managers nowadays. Spurs midfield is absolutely class.

But is it just a flash in the pan? I suspect next season Spurs will become also-rans, even with Redknapp in charge. As a manager his record leaves much to be desired; his best success was FA Cup winner with a club that nearly bankrupted itself in the process.

I know people will quote Alf Ramsey's record before becoming England manager. However he didn't have to manage a team of overpaid egotistical prima donnas. It is not just the manager that needs changing, it is the attitude of those who play the professional game at its' highest level.

Mr McGee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.

No doubt it is. You've gotta ask how these figures get so inflated haven't you? I guess HMRC and it's bloated incompetence + expensive financial lawyers milking it + harry's top drawer brief X 5 years = £8M

Yes I agree, but it's the way they play that I like.  Whether they can play like that minus Modric is an open question but Harry has to take credit for turning a club that always played proper football into serious contenders.
