I think it's only round this way where you can ask for scraps when you buy fish n chips.

I asked for some down south once and they looked at me gone out.

"Ban" does my head in, first time someone asked me for one of those it took me about 5 minutes to realise what they wanted, did not have a clue.

I always ask for a bun but if the Southerner serving me doesn't understand, I just say 'ban' accompanied with a little cheeky Cockney shuffle that involves haunching up the shoulders, raising the elbows and making two fists in front of the chest and winking. The manoeuvre is finished by cocking your head to one side and pretending to straighten an imaginary hat. Mumbling things about the "Queen mavver" whilst performing the manoeuvre can be beneficial but not strictly necessary.

You fill up my senses,
Like a barrel of Tetley's,
Like a packet of Woodbine,
Like a good pinch of snuff,
Like a night out in Cleethorpes,
Like a greasy chip butty,
O, Super Black and Whites,
Come fill me again
Na na naa naa naa naaaa TOWN!!
Na na naa naa na na naaaa
Na na naa naa na naaa naaa
Na na naa naa naa naaaaaaa!!!!!

I had a full on argument with an inbred in Lincoln over scraps at the chippy. They call them scrumps, flipping weirdos, doesn't even make sense.

Togga is my favourite word I use that only GY people understand. I often ask new kids at work if they used to twag school and they just look at me like I'm an alien or something...

When I first moved down South I used to get a bit of stick for saying some of the things I was used to saying when I lived in Grimsby. Spoggy brought much hilarity to my mates down here, as did twagging and togga. I noticed at Alfreton they served chip cobs. In Grimsby it's obviously a chip bun or buttie but ask for a bun down here you get looked at like you've just waved a turd under their nose. You either have to say 'ban' or bap. I hate asking for either.

I heard someone say that they got into a pagga once, he was a Geordie. I had no idea what he was on about but it means fight apparently.

What you could a bun is probably the biggest change in region. Endless hours of argument at uni, bread cake, bun, cob, bread roll, bap. All seem stupid!
