I'm surprised it was only approx. £1k.

That equates to what? Less than 20p per home fan?

I thought a quid per adult would have been a reasonable expectation which would have raised £3500-4500?

I just don't think our youth policy has produced home grown talent in a while, those who came through like North n Bore have done nowt. Bennett was from Ipswich, Wood from Leicester, LHanson from Luton. Jack Barlow showed some talent n we flogged him to Hull for fifty grand! Maybe Bradbury may get a chance soon, other than that most of our child prodigies end up playing for Gy Borough. Maybe it might pay dividends to trial the youth dispensed with by higher division clubs as that's where our most successful young lads have come from!

Anybody know if any current kids are likely to get pro contracts or earn us cash being flogged off!
By the way I still put into the youth programme as it's part of the clubs tradition. I'm just playing devils advocate here.

To be fair i put a couple of quid in but the holders of the buckets werent exactly selling themselves or what it was for.

The young lads outside the Main Stand were very vocal n clear about what the collection was for, I thought they looked to be doing a great job as I went into the ground. A grand is better then nothing but agreed it's a shame it wasn't more.

Credit to them but if you mean the Upper Smiths, I found the same.
No-one wants to be a pain up the @rse but a few cry's of "Please support the youth team" might have helped.

The lads at the Upper Findus were vocal when i went through the turnstyle. There must have been 4 lads covering the 3 (?) open turnstiles and when i entered the ground it would have been difficult to avoid them and impossible not to see them.

After I had put my fiver in and moved towards the stairway Robbie Stockdale was there too talking to fans

The two by the Pontoon were stood nearer the gate, so I only spotted them because I was looking out for them iyswim.  They would have been better off stood near the turnstiles I think.

Why exactly are you telling me this ?...

Obviously I saw them too. I gave them £4 (on top of the £25 I donated via the Advent Calendar thingy)
I also got a message from the club thanking me for helping me promote it on the OS when their takeup increased !

All I said was when I walked through they weren't saying anything.
You did, that's good to know.

But stop your paranoid bullshit trying defend everything in sight like it doesn't exist or like I'm lying trying to "put one over on the club" and grow up ffs !

I too did the advent calendar and I am very grown up (I'm 62 by the way)

This is a message board, not a one to one conversation. I am 'telling' anyone who chooses to read it and that included you because you did

Hi guys,

Would just like to say a big thank you on behalf of the youth department for all those who contributed to the collection on New Years Day before, during and after the Lincoln game.

We're looking forward to taking some of our centre of excellence players to the Alfreton game on Saturday to cheer on the first team and for some of them it is their first ever trip to a GTFC away match.

Let's hope the superb support and excellent form continues and we can all travel home on Saturday evening with another win under our belts.

Thanks again and hopefully see you at Alfreton on Saturday.
