My Sunday League team is need of a keeper.

Team is Winns 2nds and we are a new team in Div8 who are 2nd/3rd in league.

Keeper who we had has been poached so we are looking to replace him.

If anyone can help please let me know and I'll pass details on.

We train at Wintringham Oasis on Tuesday nights and play our home games at Humberstone School.

Cheers Si

I would gladly do it; But am only 5ft 8. When I was back in Darlington, I played in 11 a side goals for 2 years. First season we finished 20th out of 24 teams. Second season, we won the same league, with me conceding just 18 goals (Heads just got bigger here).

I'm 5'8 too and I've played a lot of football in goal. Been chipped more times than I care to remember though! Si, I've only one keeper at Abatis with me as back up though Wobblehead is a part time keeper due to golf!

I'm missing playing but my number one is better than me nowadays (and 6'2).

Getting lobbed shouldn't be a problem if you position yourself right. Might get lobbed if you narrow the angle during a one on one but any height keeper can get lobbed then.

You can't worry about it. My thinking was always if I narrow the angle so the player has less goal to target, example - move forward to just beyond the 6 yard box if forward advancing towards 18 yard box, the player has to execute an awesome lob to score. The chances of that are less than the risk of not narrowing the angle. When I was in my prime, I was confident nobody was going to score past me either side from 22-25 yards or so unless it was special - nowadays they tend to flash past me too quickly but I'm having a go at getting it back. I was always a bit chubby anyway, but fat and racing towards 36 years old seems a different proposition!

Thats the worst bit about playing in goal, some shots are just unstoppable.

It's the best bit, it's a ready made excuse for personal failure and a reason to abuse your defence!
