A 5 - 1 Grimsby win would be absolutely fantastic...... I'd settle for any win, and even better if Stockport do not score a goal at all, as the defence needs to continue to hold all opposition players from scoring against us.

The goal difference will still need to be improved over the next few games - worth what would appear to be an extra point and thus one higher place further up the table!

I'm sure matches against Stockport in recent memory that people remember are the Pringle-Challinor game and the JPT away game a few years ago.

I didn't go to either of those - the home game when Pringle got crocked was the only home game I missed that season because I couldn't get anyone to swap my shift at work.

The game against Stockport I always remember is an away game in 2001 under Lennie - a 3-3 draw. Think I went on the supporters coach, I got in Edgeley Park for a quid and it was a good game. Think it was Mick Boulding's first game for us aswell coming on as a sub.

I remember the 1967/8 game. We won 3-1 but were in the bottom 4 by Christmas and finished up being relegated by 0.01 of a goal [goal difference had not yet replaced goal average.] Whatever happens on Saturday let's hope that history doesn't repeat itself!
Did anybody notice that Matty Mainwaring's contract was terminated last week? Seems that he never fully recovered from Michael Leary's disgraceful tackle in that 'friendly' a year or two ago.
