Firstly, this is not a thread slagging off their attendances but last night Lincoln had less than 2000 home fans. A total gate of 2152 which included 267 from Stockport. Only 1885 Imps.

Just wondering if it will be that long before it happens here if performances don't improve.

Apparantly it was moved on police advice as there had been a lot of trouble at the same fixture for the last 3-4 times.

Attendances at every level are falling, even teams having relative success. May be people are realising that ticket prices are too high and quality of football ain't too good. Something has to give at some point. The 'floating fan' isn't going to waste their money watching a flipping awful side like Lincoln the same as they won't to watch town. Facilities also have an impact. People expect more than a excrement burger stand, a urine poor view and dark dingy toilets when they're are paying anything up to twenty quid for essentially an hour and half of not very entertaining football...

On a side note, I thought Fleetwood were gonna romp away with the league and destroy all in their path??? Seems like bollcks to me.

When Scunny were really excrement at level above where we now find ourselves they had a season average of 1,800.  Just think how low their gates could have been at this level after the garbage we have seen.  Gates mean nothing, it's taking us a long time to learn that, how many times did we give the bigger teams in the Championship a run for their money or bloody noses.  Passion does count and you'll not find as many passionate fans as Town fans, just give us something to cheer about.

Supporting the Mighty Mariners for over 30 years, home town club is were the heart and soul is and it's great to be a part of it.

Agreed. This is perhaps a partial counter argument to TBE's thread about Sky TV. The facilities at the top grounds have improved immeasureably however a sthe money hasnt trickled down, facilities at our level are largely from the dark ages.
Cut the ticket prices to say £10 and £5 and i would expect several clubs to go to the wall within a few weeks.

I dont know what the answer is!

And yet there are more full-time teams than ever before. Something has to give eventually.

Not for one second do i want to praise Gimp support, but i think you will find on average that clubs
attendances will drop by about 25% for televised games - same thing happened to us last year in
our home game against Luton early in the season - a non televised game would have had appoaching 5000
for that game, we got something like 3400 - even the return game at Luton attracted one of their lowest
home attendance for the same reason, i think that the only clubs who are actually better off for having their games televised are the ones with appalling support like Hayes etc.
For the alleged amounts  this tin pot  tv company are paying for the rights to BSP, i would personally prefer
they F Off and leave us all alone.

Imps game was not televised last night York was and they were unlucky not to win, Imps fans are still suffering from the shock of dropping down to this level and the fact that they are not going to walk this league as they thought

Were Lincoln on the telly? Thought it was Fleetwood.

Attendances are bound to drop with all sorts of factors being responsible.

Lower standard of football. The recession is biting now too and everything is going up except wages.Playing on a Friday nigt can't have helped either. We always get lower attendances for night games, even when it's a Tuesday night, let alone Friday. It was also p1ssing down last night and would have been hard for some to drag themselves off the sofa after a week at work.

I'm gradually losing interest in football myself - it's now more of a business than a sport IMO.

The greed and prima-donna posturing of some Premiership players I find pretty nauseating, and my biggest gripe (I've been saying this for the last 7 or 8 years) is that too many football matches are decided by refereeing decisions/mistakes - and not the side playing the better football.

Can't imagine I'll ever stop following GTFC, though!

Its not just the cost of the game. I live 80 miles away and the petrol cost makes it an expensive day out, particularly when the footy served up isn't that great aswell. Both combinations have restricted my attendance at BP. I love Town but it is not economical nor uplifting at the moment

I guess football, particularly at our current level, is bound to suffer at a time when many people feel less well off in general.  I live 60 + miles from BP and I didn't used to think too much about the cost of getting there, but in fuel alone now that adds around £20 to the day out.

I live near Leeds so maybe all exiles in the area going to BP could post that they are and car share. I would probably go more if I had a full car

That has to be the way forward for fans that have to travel a long way to a match,  could even work better for some away matches too.

I think your argument is pretty flawed anyway, this new tv channel doesn't attract anyway near the amount of people to use it as an excuse for 1,600 people 'missing' from a game. Fact is, they probably wasn't going to go anyway. I'm skint at the moment but have paid to go today on my own, never done it before. I now look at the price on the ticket and think of all the things I could do with the money. Instead im spending it watching Town against a team we never bloody beat, is it worth it? Probably not, and the further we fall the more people like me will just think 'intercourse it, theres hundreds of things I could do with this money'. It isn't value for money anymore and I think more and more people are realising that.
