with all due respect pete,,i doubt that for one minute!

I thought every town player put a shift in and did their best, Fleetwood just looked a bit better than us in quite a few areas.
If we'd played one of the minnows (see how I kept the fish connection there!) and battered (fish again) them, everyone would be saying how were going to wallop (could have said codswallop) everyone 4-0 - some people are almost as fickle as me

Yeah, the amount of negativity after only one game is ridiculous. It isn't as if we got played off the park, we just lost to a better team.

if anything, saturday made me a little possitive, despite the loss, i can see a LOT more fight in the players and even going in for tackles (something which really did my head in for the last few seasons), i think we'll come good

No-one has called for the managers to be sacked have they ?
Of course people over-react a bit but so what ? Hardly suprising after 10 years of disappointment and 1st game of the season, cut them some slack....

fortunatly i made my choice 25 years ago,and believe strongly that you should support your team through the good times and the "bad" times!Yes your right it is a matter of opinions and thats a good thing for a good honest debate,but to start after just one match is ridicoulous,i must admit to the new faces that did turn up on saturday to support GTFC,keep coming and support this club of ours,but to the ones that were sat behind me,,dont bother!spending 90 mins constantly slagging the players off by the numbers on their shirts and booing to the final whistle!those people are definatly  not what the club needs if we are to rise to dizzy heights again!

I agree with most of what you say, flash1.  I think some of the anger/frustration, at least for me, is that we lost what was essentially a six-point game, and to make matters worse it was a home game.  We know that Fleetwood will be up there at the end of the day, and losing to them at home puts us on the back foot right out of the gate (i.e., makes it tougher for us to win the league outright).

Having said that, there's no way anyone should give up on the team right now.  A good performance tomorrow night will go a long way, and hopefully things roll on from there ('course, how many times have we said that in the past 10 years?).  I'm 100% behind the club, and losing one game... although a costly one... doesn't make me lose sleep at night.

Couldn't make the match was absolutley gutted (had no baby sitter) lol.  Anyway my dad gave me a very good summary of the game in which we got nothing from the ref (sometimes the ref can make it very hard on the players especially if he is biased).   He said Fleetwood weren't anything special they played rugby rather than football and everytime they made a bad tackle it went unpunished yet when we did  yellow straight away.  Another thing me old man said was that the ball was constantly in the air (could anyone who went to the pre-season games confirm if we did this).

I'm not too disheartened tbh it would have been a fantastic start had we won, but from my point of view as long as they battled to the last minute you cant ask for anymore.  it will take atleast 5 games until the managers know who their first 11 is.  Anyway i'm going for a 3-0 win.  Serge, Hearn and Disley.

You've got to stop assuming everyone having their say on the messageboards is slagging the team off at BP when they're doing their best to cheer them on.

Please try to engage brain before choosing your words - it's like a kick in the b0llocks to those who are doing their best to get behind the lads on matchdays but wish to have an honest say after the match.

I think we will win a lot of games this season,but on the one showing we dont look like a team that can challenge for the title.

(We need to be fighting for the title by the way, seeing as only the champions go up automatically.)

Its all right talking about play-offs but even if we did make them it doesnt guarantee anything does it?

It is only one game,but several of us have posted our concerns,but that is what we are entitled to do after going and still going for 50 odd years.

not being funny or owt but we've only had one game no1 can really say who looks like there going to win the league we beat crawley last season first game and look what they did. the bookies have a guess just like we do fleetwood and luton could member it right up and in the next 10 games we could run away with a hefty leads i doubt that very much but UTM!
