RIP Rick Buckler - a life defining time for me when Going Underground was released in March 80 and Town hit the top and cruised to the 3rd Division title...

Exactly the same memory for me. My first game was for my 8th birthday in January 1980 (beat Reading 2-1 at BP in a night game) and The Jam were peaking and they meant everything to me then. That squad under George Kerr and Weller, Foxton and Buckler were my heroes.
RIP Rick.

This is a good way to remember him:

Anyone see them when they played Skeggy? I remember getting back to GY after the gig and Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler were both enjoying a pint at the bar in the Haven opposite the Precinct.

Yeah think that’s right. It was 2-1. Big crowd. My first experience of Grimsby Town. Totally hooked from then on.
