..........,from next season!

(Story on the BBC football website today).

Personally, I have always thought that 3 up and 3 down was fairer.  Even when we are a Div 2 club.  Clubs relegated to NL would have a 50% better chance of promotion.  (3 promotion spots instead of 2).

There is still a bigger jeopardy in Div 1 with 4 relegation places.

Nah feck em, back to election / re-election I say, if it ever comes down to it Scunthorpe and Lindsay United should be made to plead for our vote...

Interesting point is that they do not really practice what they preach in their own leagues, as in there are only 2 promotion spots from NLN and NLS into NL (with 4 going down of course)

Hence why they are all voting for it to be changed to 3up 3down throughout.

You couldn’t do it any other way though given the fact it’s split into regional sections in the leagues below the NL.

It absolutely should be 3 up 3 down IMO, we saw the impact that only 1 promotion spot has and it’s a ridiculous system built on the fact the national league used to be pretty much fully semi pro. The scramble one automatic place causes has led to some absolutely ridiculous money being lobbed about in that league through pure desperation to get out.

I’m not saying bankrolled clubs wouldn’t happen at all, the genie is out of the bottle on that one now but this would certainly slow it down. Crawley, Fleetwood, FGR, Wrexham and now York are good examples of that and clubs in that league have spent beyond their means just to keep up.

Looks like an unpopular opinion but I always thought it should be more difficult to move from non league to football league so I like the 2 up 2 down - even when we were there.
I’d be fine with 3 up 3 down in all other leagues but NL to League 2 should be a special case imo.  League 2 to League 1 should be reduce down to 3 places.

It’s meaningless what they want as unless I’m missing something they don’t have the power to get it.

NLN and NLS both feed NL so you need even numbers down-up, currently 2+2 up = 4 down.

Have 8 teams in each of NLN/NLS and 4 from NLP competing in a sort of takeshi’s castle style battle at Nottingham racecourse over late may bank holiday weekend

Well if they believe in 3 up so much they should do 3+3 and 6 down from the NL
