Whilst I only watched a stream, today was quite an affirmation.
1. Our defence is soft and I can’t for a minute understand how Rodgers starts ahead of Tharme. 2. Luker might be the best of our loanees but he’s rubbish defensively. 3. Carson is nowhere near good enough. 4. Our attacking options are poor- Obikwu is either injured or lazy. 5. We can’t afford to pay shedloads to injury prone players. 6. The free week idea backfired quite spectacularly.

To answer No. 1, I think it's because Tharme isn't very good at passing the ball. I think he's a good defender - much stronger aerially than Rodgers, but it's going to be a struggle for him to win a place if he has limited ability with the ball at his feet. Would probably do well in a back three.

Are we overthinking this abit. I haven’t really seen Rodgers playing raking diags or bringing it out. Maybe he’s better with the ball at his feet, but for me you pick the best defender and accept the limitations that maybe there not the other way round.

So you suggest carrying on shipping three goals every week just because Rodgers can pass the ball?

I think he was more suggesting that’s why Artell gives him the nod each week…

I’m aware of that. Surely the manager is aware that we have the 2nd leakiest defence in the division?

1. We've got the 2nd worst defence in L2, if Artell had any faith in Tharme he'd be in the team by now. The fact he isn't tells you everything. 2. It's not his fault we've slotted him into a system and position that exposes the weakness in his game. 3. He'd played 90 minutes of senior league football before coming on yesterday, what do you expect? 4. Obikwu is anything but lazy. He's turned into a big, nasty sod who bullies defenders. It's not his fault there's no quality around him to exploit the gaps he creates. 5. We need to find a way of avoiding the soft tissue injuries. Some injuries are bad luck, but if you push players' to the limit expect them to breakdown. 6. Why? Would you work for 10 months continuously without any time off? Why should players do that? They are human beings with families. Maybe treat them like that rather than a slave to the club.

There’s a lesson to be learned, we have all this possession, but don’t create any chances, have basically the worst defence in the league, but one of our better defenders cannot get a game. Granted we’re not far from the playoffs but I think the general consensus is that we are pretty poor, maybe a slight tweak is required, the commentators on Man City last night we’re indicating that even Pep seems to be playing a more direct style, so get Tharme in to defend and boot it upto the 2 forwards we should be playing, and not passing around at the back to improve statistics but eventually putting us under pressure.

1. Agree 2. Play to his strengths and support his weaknesses 3. His foul for the penalty thankfully did not result in a goal. 4. Yesterday his ball control was poor and I can’t remember him getting anywhere near scoring 5 Obviously 6. Hope the holiday pays off on Tuesday.

Re Luker, I'd like to see him playing in the Davies role, Burns on one side and Vernam the other - JDS seems to have more impact off the bench than as a starter. I'm sorry to say that he looks like a boy in a man's world.
