So the Welsh big four are wanting to complete in the a revamped Welsh cup, to get a easier route into European football, but still want all the financial benefits from being in the football league, FA cup, league and the mickey mouse cup for the league 1 and 2 clubs.

They say that they will not use any 'profit' from any European cup revenue to gain an advantage in the EFL, what a load of balderdash.

I hope that the FA DO NOT pass this. The FA have the final say, so I don't hold out that the right decision will be made, based on recent FA decisions to allow the scrapping of replays in the FA Cup. THe FA are not fit for purpose to be making decisions on football anymore, they are clueless and out of touch.

If they want an easy route in European football, its simple resign from the EFL and join the Welsh league.

I know that in the past these clubs have played in Europe back in the 70's & 80's via the Welsh cup, but back then the comerical benefits are nothing like what the commerical benefits are now.

Its all the wording Will not USE ANY PROFIT, any revenue can still be used on their squad, so the likelyhood of making a profit from the competition are negligible, but WILL INCREASE their turnover.

I wonder if this is been driven by Hollywood FC, until now was not really bothered, but this changes things in my opinion on them.

So the likes Barry Town, The New Saint, Caernarfon etc are likely to miss out on European football in the future.

The hope is that the new Welsh League Cup will generate at least £3m each season to be invested in "grassroots infrastructure projects, women's football, Cymru Premier clubs and FAW Tier Two clubs".

Aye, you can't have it both ways.

Otherwise we'll press for European entry via the Lincs Senior Cup.

I have a very distant memory of Cardiff being in both cups.  They had some good runs in Europe.  I think with John Toshack before he moved to Liverpool.

So, Welsh teams used to be in both cups.

Yeah, until they were given the choice of which one they wanted to be in, and they chose the fa cup

It's an unfair advantage to Welsh club sides as the prospect of playing in Europe makes them more attractive to players. If they play in England they should be treated as English.

Simple answer, as these clubs state they do not want a financial advantage due to the European money then any player who is in a European squad is not eligible for league,fa cup matches. See how quick they are to be in Europe then!
