I was a little baffled by the original post as I thought he was assassinated decades ago!

Long before my time, but RIP is a former Mariner has left us.

Best remembered for bringing Matt Tees back to the Mariners pulling in a gate of more than 7,000 on his return. Was replaced as manager by big Lawrie with Tees scoring 27 goals in 43 appearances in the 71/72 promotion season.

Yes from Man City.  Still progressive at that time.

Bit unlucky to be sacked in all fairness, although it proved a great decision, as I seem to recall we finished the 70/71 season quite strongly and looked like we had the makings of a decent side which under Lawrie Mac proved correct. Also recall we finished that 70/71 with four or five home matches on the bounce.

Strangely, Doncaster, who had sacked Lawrie appointed Kennedy as his replacement.

Took over from Bobby Ross at right half and think he was a bit barrelled chested but can’t honestly remember how well he played but given his pedigree one would have thought he’d have been decent.

Don’t think Bobby Kennedy ever managed Doncaster.

He was appointed by Town after Bill Foulkes declined to become our player manager

Bobby was still a decent player when he came to Town.
I’m too young to tell whether he was a good manager, but I enjoyed watching the team in those days.

Went to the same church as Bobby Kennedy in the days when you still did and as a youngster remember him as a nice man. As said above when we brought back Matt Tees we finished the season very strongly and it was a surprise when he went.

After Grimsby he went on to Bradford City a few years later and eventually won promotion with them.

RIP Bobby Kennedy
