when you look at the strength of the bench today that's the best I've seen in many a year. Few can't even got on the bench coz of injury etc. I don't think we need to go mad in January, just somehow keep all that lot happy. To be where we are with all the injuries and now this squad being fit, we are in a great position

Incredibly harsh on Evan that he's the one that seems to have made room for the returning Thompson as a starter. I think the fact that Green has notched goals whereas he hasn't is counting against him. He'll de involved later this pm though.

Think it could also be down to him playing a lot of minutes already. Think Ev's played every minute of every game up until the previous two hasn't he?

We have five very good midfielders in the squad today. Can’t remember the last time we had such a wealth of talent. Apart from Tuesday obviously.

You fix a roof when the sun shines.
We'll strengthen in Jan.
Hopefully it's the Wayne Burnett and Dave Smith strengthening of 1998 rather than the Junior Mendes and Ben Futcher of 2006...

Think you’re absolutely right and totally agree. That’s the bit that could be exciting. Same principle as when the owners talk about not looking for investment when you really need it but when things are rosey. Might not be anyone out there at the right price but hope they can find an unloved diamond somewhere.

Evan, like all the squad, will be having is fitness and energy levels closely monitored so we can get the best performance. This is part and parcel of the modern game. It is now a squad game and every player plays a part. We now have several mid-fielders with many possible combinations to ensure we can deal with whoever we are playing. I'm sure none of the players will feel left out or hard done by. DA seems to be building a true squad mentality. I said on another thread , I don't believe we have a best XI but a best XI to deal with who we are playing.

The cool thing is the players must be all thinking that and the competition to even get in the match day squad is intense and minutes played are precious moments to stake your claim for more of them! Contrast that with only a few weeks ago when the squad more or less picked itself based on who was fit and available.

Yeah tend to agree. I also think there are a couple of areas they’ll want to see if they can upgrade or protect. I think they’d love a top quality right back. Warren is injured and Cass hasn’t looked that impressive. I wouldn’t be surprised to see something there. I’d be astonished if the club don’t want to sign Davies permanently and I reckon that’d be a priority. I think we’ll want to get Pyke and Wilson out the door. We’ve got plenty of quality in midfield and upfront and Vernam to come back, but maybe one more attacking player in if RP or DW go.

We are a bit light at the back. With Harvey suspended next week and Warren out to Christmas we only have Carson as any sort of defensive cover without bringing in Callum Storr. Ideally those two leave and a striker and RB come in assuming Cass is seen as a 4th CB as well.
