Between us we will have the oldest and newest wooden stand. About 124 years apart.  We were ahead of the curve.

Is the main stand like Trigger's broom? All the wooden terrace was replaced when it was converted to all seater. The roof has just been rebuilt, so there can't be much, if any, of the old structure left.

It's more sustainable than FGs. Just because their new ground is made of timber doesn't mean there aren't a lot of carbons emissions from felling extraction, transport, the timber mill, transport again, all the fit out works etc. The most sustainable solution is nearly always to to refurb / retrofit existing rather than new build.

If it reduces the use of concrete to a minimum, it will certainly hack emissions back a great deal. Obviously not from just staying at the existing stadium, of course.

Ultimately, it's just a vanity piece for Vince.

Anyhow, if they want to save money, they just need to not bother with any foundations. It hasn't hurt the Main Stand! Solid Victorian engineering...

Yes a vanity piece - they don't need a bigger ground.

The mad thing is that it's got a smaller capacity than the existing stadium! What a waste of money.

It’s built to accommodate 10,000 people, but only 5,000 seats will be installed in the first instance.

Ultimately though, it’s an “eco-friendly” stadium built over half-an-hour away from the club’s traditional home with enough parking spaces for each and every supporter to drive themselves there on their own, based on their current average gate.

It’s utterly nonsensical and the ultimate definition of a pointless vanity project. I’m still of the opinion that it won’t actually happen. Time will tell.

But they will all drive there in EVs - made from steel manufactured in China using coal fired energy...
