I remember when Del Boy got the millions he’d craved all his life and still wanting to be the same old market trader doing dodgy deals .
I wonder if there are any Old school Wrexham fans feeling the same
Yeah I doubt it too lol

I don’t think it will. Reynolds and McElhenney have personal brands to protect; it’s not in their interests to leave Wrexham shafted. The global interest in the club, and the documentary in particular, have natural shelf lives of which they’re probably between a third and half of the way through, but they’ll be an attractive proposition for some super-wealthy would-be owner when the time comes for the club to be sold. I imagine Bournemouth weren’t on Bill Foley’s radar 10 or 15 years ago. Where they’ll be when that day arrives is an interesting question. They made light work of League Two last season and are having a decent go at League One this time around. Logic tells you they’ll make it into the Championship sooner rather than later, and they should have the resources to stay there at the very least. Beyond that? Who knows. As for whether they’re enjoying the ride; in the last three and a bit seasons they’ve won 118 games out of 182, winning two promotions along the way and look like they’ve got a reasonable chance of winning another this season, which would take them to the highest level they’ve played at since 1982. They’re having a fúcking whale of a time. I don’t begrudge them, personally.

I don't think Ryan Reynolds needs to sportswash in quite the same way as, say, Saudi Arabia. Apart from forcing that Green Lantern movie on us, his human rights record is... pretty good?

I agree, they’ll not ditch them or leave them in a bad situation. What I would say, though, is the tv show may suffer at some point. One day they’ll have a bad season - maybe a relegation - and whilst Brits love to wallow in heartache and watch people go through torture, yanks hate losing and it could be considered a turn-off to some markets.

I think a better parallel is Fleetwood or Salford, and before them Crawley and Rushden & Diamonds. Injecting sums of money way over and above what the club is capable of generating organically and elevating it to a level in could never hope to sustain by its own steam is not a model I'm on board with. There's a unique element of ingenuity about the Wrexham model, whoever came up with it (and I'm not convinced it was either Reynolds or McElhenney themselves), that makes it inherently sustainable in the short-to-medium term - it's a cyclical, money making machine that is ultimately propelling them through the divisions. So far, the local (and wider) community is showing that the support is there with over 13,000 average gates so far - the 5th highest in League One this season - more than the likes of Barnsley, Reading and Wigan who have all graced the Premier League in the last 25 years or so. They could no doubt sell plenty more if they had the capacity. They don't look remotely out of place at their current level, their model is broadly sustainable, and as a fan base they are one of the few clubs who suffered more than us in the decade or so leading up to their Hollywood takeover. I'm really, really happy with the people running our club today, and the immediate future looks brighter for Town than it has done in absolutely ages, but I think the only things I can find fault with about Wrexham would be borne out of envy.

I think the Wrexham owners are good guys and there is an equitable outcome to date for all stake holders in the club. Their support who where around in "the wilderness days" deserve success.
The lazy media annoy me though as they just default to the Wrexham story in the forlorn belief that most people are still interested in the plucky underdog rags to riches story, lazy copy by journos that should be reporting on the real issues and stories in the game,
I always thought they'd flatline in L1 but I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the Championship next season, have they got the cash to sustain the upward trend, I suspect they have.

I would say that we are historically a much bigger and better supported club than Wrexham , if we had the investment and the ground to hold them , we would easily get crowds like that and more if we was in their position

If our new investors found some very rich Holywood actors to invest in us, similar to Wrexham, we would welcome them with open arms. It's only because they chose Wrexham instead of us that we become jealous. Good luck to them, they are a club similar to us that have got lucky, I don't begrudge them that. Their fans have been through it just like we have.
Will it be our turn to be lucky sooner rather than later?
