After 11 games last season we had just 13 points compared to the 18 we have now. We were then about to start a run of one draw and then four successive defeats - leaving us with just 14 points from 16 games.

Remember too that last season we drew more games (16) than any other team in EFL2. The fact that we've had no draws so far this season (we had 4 in our first 11 games last season) is significant: we're clearly winning games and holding leads when last season we'd have drawn or even lost these games.

Having said that, we are due a draw soon ... Walsall on Saturday (currently the draw is 5/2)?

We look better all round this season but would look even better still if we had our full squad available. Be interesting to see how we line up once Thompson is fit again.

Reducing the number of draws is a massive benefit.  Turning more in to wins.

We have not hit top gear yet (or maybe won’t).

However, we have half a team out.  We should get better.

Interesting times.

I honestly believe you are only due a draw if you want one...going for the win or....lose trying to win tends not to end in a draw.
We would have been happy with a point before kick off tends to end in a draw....

I think the difference I appreciate this season is that we’ve accumulated more points than we’ve seen in this phase, giving us a very healthy league position. I think that the nature of L2 and our occasional propensity to give away sloppy goals and lose means we could :be defeated 3 games on the bounce and we won’t be back into that all too familiar position 4th from bottom with everyone going ‘here we go again’. I’m happy enough to accept a mixed bag of results. I can accept that philosophically. I don’t think many of us can stomach yet another season of struggling and fighting relegation before we’ve even made it to bonfire night.
Much better this year in that regard.

I've not seen much this season, but what I have seen and what I've read is that we've picked up more points than we probably deserve. That can be a sign of a good team, or it can be a sign that when things start going wrong we'll drop off. We've certainly had a good start and that should bring confidence which helps keep up winning.

I'm not sure the injuries have been a hinderance. I think we've had so many that it's galvanised the team and created a strong team spirit. When players come back we should have a stronger starting line up in theory, but it might also disrupt the harmony when players who are doing well end up playing second fiddle.

Who knows what will happen. Enjoy that we're doing better than we expected.

Hurst was somewhat of a draw specialist, stating the obvious here, but out of the 16 last season if we had won just six of those games and lost ten we would still have accrued two addtional points.

There is definitely a siege mentality among those that are fit and available. Some of them are probably getting more minutes than they could have anticipated (Khouri and Green in particular). Both have taken their opportunity, and the challenge is going to be keeping everyone happy, in midfield particularly, when everyone is back.
