Short term deal is telling, he can't seem to nail a contract anywhere.

Would make sense to give him an opportunity to prove fitness before committing

We’ve had better

We’ve had a lot worse

I’d prefer the options we currently have if am honest.

Inconsistent but when he was on his game I thought he was a decent footballer.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I have a slight suspicion that I thought he was alright because of the dross around him making him look better than he was/is.

Miss Scunthorpe. Not a beauty pageant, just sound advice.

Second half away at Northampton he was absolutely unplayable.  They doubled and even trebled up on him and he was still going past them like they weren't there.

But he then only repeated it in very, very brief spells.   I wasn't disappointed to see him go and I wouldn't be particularly desperate to have him back either.

Monster levels of ability and physically an absolute beast, especially out wide. But zero consistency means he'll always be dotting about the lower leagues.  By all accounts he was consistently excellent for Hull in League One a few years back which suggests he can do it, got to wonder how much his lengthy illness has taken out of him.  Shame really.

There's definitely a quality footballer in there and as you say an absolute beast of a man.

His illness clearly took a lot out of him and he's never really settled anywhere since he left us.

It's a shame and I'd love to see him get fixed up and playing regularly.

Been speaking to a Hull lad today, apparently Josh had an awful attitude, lazy in training and had some sort of chip on his shoulders, but he also not surprised Mcann has signed him as he got the best out of Emmanuel when they were in the championship
