I hope I am wrong

When Mark Hughes was appointed manager at Bradford City, I said he would be out by Xmas.
He has spent all his playing career at Premier League or equivalent. I argued his players would not be able to play like he wanted and expected. They didn’t. He was sacked although it took a little longer.

DA comes from a set up at Crewe where they had a youth development scheme and playing style embedded. At Grimsby we have neither. He seems to take an age to recruit a higher standard of player needed to play in the style he wants. We were saved last year when the players persuaded him to play a style they could cope with.

This year we have gone back to his earlier preferred style with disastrous results. Can’t defend corners cos we hadn’t practiced….rubbish.  Lose to a side hammered by the mighty Hartlepool 5-0 yet we concede 4 goals….not good enough

This is going to end in tears and probably much sooner than many expect

I was as keen as anyone for us to move on from Hurst and find a bit more flair and style to our game. What I see at present is the recruitment of a few journeymen and a gamble on a player with obvious talent but no experience in English football.

We seem to be putting sustainability ahead of playing ability and it all seems like muddled thinking.

We are doomed. And the artell disciples wont let you hear it- 1 in particular.

4 goals conceded to a part time flipping side. Our manager stating 4 weeks into pre season we havent worked on defending. Scrabbling around in the dirt 2 weeks before the season starts for players to come into your starting 11.

5000 season ticket holders before the end of May. This is what we’ve got to look forward too. Its pathetic to be honest

The positive is that there’s five weeks to recruit players of requisite quality, the negative is that we haven’t done so already.
