From a Vale fan family friend

"Energetic fullback. Was on lone at Stockport for their promotion season. Likes to get forward but never really impressed in defensive duties at Vale."

I like this signing, if I remember right he was quite quick and very direct.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

I once said Gazza's IQ was less than his shirt number and he asked me: What's an IQ? - George Best

Not much of a drumroll there, was there? Vale fans seem to rate him at League Two level - played his fair share of League One football and of course a few for last season’s Champions. Looks promising on paper.

Add to that he has two League Two promotions under his belt with Stockport and Port Vale, plus a promotion from the National League with Hartlepool in 20/21.

Still only 24. In terms of CV alone, looks an upgrade on Mullarkey.

"He scored his first ever league goal on his debut for Stockport County nine days later, in a 3–1 win at Grimsby Town."

Welcome aboard Lewis, sounds like a decent signing.

Goals scored against Town last year are the footballing equivalent of dog years.

It was definitely a ruff season.

Swapping out Mullarkey for a fee for a younger replacement for free, that looks like good business to me.

The way we’re operating in the transfer market this summer certainly feels different to last year, it feels well thought out and shrewd.

I’ve been hurt before though, but it does feel like things are bubbling away quite nicely.

A 24 year old who's twice won promotion from this division over a 28 year old who's spent most of his career in NL and was relegated once, then nearly again straight away? I know which one I'd choose. Plus we got a fee. Good business by the club. Welcome Lewis.

From my Vale supporting mate: "he’s decent, one of the few who actually looked to move/play the ball forwards. Don’t really know why he didn’t get much of a look in for us last season tbh"

Impressive first interview. I really like what he says. Honestly, there's so much buzzing going on that Artell may have to use a megaphone.

Looks like an upgrade on Mullarkey on paper. Get a fee for Toby who's 28, spent the vast majority of his career in non league, relegated from league 2 and almost relegated a second time.  Replaced him with a lad 4 years younger who's been promoted from league 2 twice, and on a free!

Looks like shrewd business by town, but saying that no one was THAT upset when they took Orsi off us last season so time will tell.

Seems a good piece of business. A player who has already been and done it in this division instead of relegated players looking to stay in league football is a must if we are to progress from L2 whipping boys this season.
