said summat like 'finally to get it over the line' - another one that's been in the pipeline for some time?

Think it was “ to finally get it announced” which suggests he may have signed a while ago?

Just might support AB’s post re number of signings that had already been completed?

Another good signing. We are not shopping in the bargain bin are we ( I know we didn’t last season) but these seem like very targeted signings

Aren't all signings targeted or do we usually get a list shut our eyes then see who the finger is pointing at?

Considering the number of crap players we have signed in the past few years maybe we do shut our eyes.

Think the main issue in recent years was players were almost exclusively recruited based on their "character" and less so on their abilities. Always baffled me as to why Hurst died on that hill, sure it works in non-league to have a group of players of that ilk. He got lucky at Shrews that he inherited a good squad. Ipswich was a mess because of the dross he signed.

Looking forward to see how DA shapes this team. Think it is going to be very different to what we've been used to the past 10 years or so.

You recruit decent lads because if you recruit diva’s, bell ends and party animals it tends to go wrong more often than not.

Yeah Hurst looked for good character for sure but to pretend that he did that above ability is wrong. Listen to the recent Dis & Ira Jackson JNR Interviews and for different reasons you’ll probably cut Hurst a bit more slack.

Inherited a good squad😂 they were in the bottom 4. He kept them up. He brought in good players, Henderson, Nolan, Toto, Carlton Morris, others. He almost got them up

Sick of this twisting history bullshit

Yeah it’s not like he got us promoted from a league with only 2 promotion places twice or anything is it?

Think the word people are looking for is 'methodology' Hurst had his own pretty succesful methodology, but it depended upon him and Doig's 'eye' & opinion. You can only know so many players, hence Jsson's comment about shopping from the limited stock of the corner shop.
Artell /1878 methodology is to use Joe, the 21st group and data in general to bring in a far wider stock (hence Jason's comment about shopping in the huge world of Amazon). The shortlist then goes to Artell. I suppose we then have to rely on Artell's skill to choose the right character, coz I'm sure the ata can't tell you that!
