Taxpayer will save £1.6m a year on his salary that isn’t a salary and he will have time to sort out his £5m tax dispute with HMRC . Seems like a win all round.

But in this day and modern  age social media is now a serious weapon and people interpret  what you say /put your opinion across.
And so have we had a taste of it dare i say a social  media platform and a woman with a disabled  son. ( No Names - No Packdrill).
The chance for the BBC to axe Gary Lineker  and save on wages.
For MOTD with out Gary lineker is a non starter
As for Alan Shearer and Ian Wright  well done for standing by ,backing up Gary.
BBC & Government and politicians  don't mix with sport for me.

Personally I would enjoy MOTD more if they got rid of the presenter and the studio “experts”. I only want to see the football and not have someone tell me what I’ve just watched. Enjoy the league 1 & 2 goals program on Sky, just show the goals/action. Next Sunday will be the second time, after the  Southampton game, I will actually watch the half time chat, usually it’s the ideal time to make a cuppa.

The BBC is a woke corporation and completely out of touch with the modern world. They can stuff MOTD , not that I watch it very much but it is obvious to me that the BBC is controlled by the government.

You completely miss the point again that it is through the platform of MOTD that Lineker has such an audience anyway. At our considerable expense too. The fact that many of the Beeb's high earners are not salaried is a getaround for tax and the awkwardness of parity pay awards.

Lineker could still talk about issues of the day on Twitter but be a little cleverer about it. Surely he knew that he was way over the top. He did well at school. His knowledge of the Second World War can't be that bad. No, he did it because he wanted the limelight and perhaps his talks with the BBC were not going his way. Another one heading to LBC?

Perhaps you are right and the BBC is no longer fit for it's original purpose. I don't want to pay the licence fee any more but my wife does. Many households will be divided. The kids don't care. Lineker knows it and wants maximum exposure on his way out.
