We’ve had 4 brilliant chances and not finished one of them, how on earth does that not scream needing a striker?
Do you believe throwing another striker at the tons we already bought in will help? Who we going to bring in? What do you think they will do different to what we already have? We already missed out on 3 strikers, clearly we still can't compete with the clubs that have more than one person with money on the board or football celeb vanity projects like Salford. We need to live in reality and get what we have fit and develop them this season. "sign more players" is not the answer to everything, we've had too many bad seasons where we sign like 30 players and none make much difference. I think people we have will come good and start producing, just need some patience and a reality check.

We've actually looked liked scoring, more so than the other games. Stupid pen, and the poor backpass almost made it 0-2, Sort of mistakes you make when players are not used to one another? Let's hope the lack of fitness doesn't lead to our usual second half dip.

Should be winning, but silly mistake. Why is Macca hoofing the ball at Tilleys head?

Could have easily had 4 goals there and we’ve actually played well. Tilley needs to do more and Idehen worries me. He’s done well for a youngster, but let’s be honest, we’ll be better with Pollock or waterfall in there.
Keep this up and we should get a couple of goals. Nothing against the lad, but please don’t bring Boyd on as a sub again. Still not sure how it’s possible the both Jackson and Sisay aren’t on the bench.

Don't want to turn into one of those XG loving advanced football statistic nerds but creating regular chances is the most important part of scoring goals on a consistent basis. Yes, having more clinical attacking players helps with this, but if you keep carving out good opportunities like that (as we have all half) then sooner or later some of them are likely to end up in the net. And anyway you've completely brushed past the last sentence in my previous post.

First half thoughts Tilley needs to put more effort in. Beaten to ball by fullback numerous times early on by just being less interested. Edwards really showing his need for better decision making. I've still not seen anything in Taylor. Preston looked good again. Clifton really surprised and impressed me for first 20 mins then disappeared. Definitely a penalty. So unlucky to have balled cleared off line on 45 mins. Probably should have scored or at least done better on a couple of occasions. They probably should have had a man sent off for 2 yellows at least, neither of which were given. Towell for them has bossed everything.

What do they have that we don’t already have? I’m glad you asked, are you forgetting how utterly woeful Green was last year? 2 goals in the league for an entire season, now he’s our best option. I’m sure he’s a nice bloke and might do well, but he’s not league standard anymore IMO. Our other 3 options haven’t played a league game and Hanson is injured yet again. You can see it as negative, I’d like to think I’m a fairly realistic fan but to see our striking options and to be happy is completely and utterly naive.

To be fair that was a great save from Green’s header. Not sure any other striker would have scored.
Come out second half guns blazing and we might sneak this.
