What new owners?
Exactly. The lower we sink the harder it is to find a manager daft enough to come and the less attractive the club is to prospective buyers, if any. It is in Fenty’s own interests to get the managerial job sorted and and the playing side of the club stabilised as a decent proposition. But if he goes for the cheap option and relies on Macclesfield, the old Luton scenario and aftermath comes back to haunt him again.

Let’s be absolutely fair to AL. Fenty, his current stooges and those who have tolerated his fuckups are to blame for this mess. If I were Anthony I’d probably rather be replaced than have my CV tainted by association. Whatafuckingmess.

We have players who can be tricky running at defenders in the opposition box but they never do so “it’s a yes from me”!
Actually on reflection I take this back the fact that he has got a predominately non league (thanks John) set of players progressing week by week from hoof ball to actually trying to pass the thing would suggest a coaching role for him wouldn’t be a bad thing!

Now if he could only coach that ball into the net ........

Don't often disagree with you TTG but this is a manager issue. Hurst has got Scunthorpe playing better than us - not prettier but a goal and 3 points better today. That is what counts.
It is no good being Jim Bowen and keeping on all the time with "look at what you could have won". At some point a bullet has to be bitten. For me, the one and only reason AL would keep his job is not because the side is playing OK and is unlucky, it is if the Scrooges in the boardroom cannot attract someone better. If AL does keep his job it will say a lot more about Fenty & co. than about AL's abilities.
BUT it’s pretty easy for Hurst - he’s got players on 3-4K a week. Whether we accept it or not, or whether we think they played well today or not, Hurst has a League One squad. A league one squad that they actually can’t afford, in real terms. Scunny SHOULD be beating us. The fact that our team were actually marginally better has to count for something. If WE had Van Veen playing for us, we’d have won today and we’d be top half. By the way, Van Veen disgraced himself today. What on Earth was he thinking. The police should be having a word with him. His actions were not a joke in any way shape or form. He was a tool.

Fair enough, they have a bigger budget but that isn’t the point I was making. Several posters have said we played better than them ...... but the fact is no goals again. That is the point. Scunthorpe won ugly regardless of budget and that is why they are moving up and we are moving down. Bemoan that they have a striker and we don’t if you like but that doesn’t wash as an argument over 7 league games.

Agree 100% if they had shown the attitude the Town players did they’d have been out of sight after 30 mins.

Had a conversation with a Blackburn fan at work the other week, along the lines of why do we bother with fan forums!
What do people really expect Limbrick, or anyone, to be able to do? We have no chance of attracting a manager that we can be sure of improving anything! So what are we achieving by saying Limbrick must go? intercourse all!
He may well not be a manager who is going to set the world on fire, but as someone who has a four hour roundtrip to attend every game i'm relieved he's got us actually playing football, using players in their correct positions, and not just lumping the ball up to Hanson all the time for him to knock the ball on into random space where there is likely to be no one there anyway.
We were the better team today, but are bereft of anyone who can finish. Is it really Limbricks fault that we have two retirement age forwards only just into 2 year contracts? We have a multitude of forwards, and they all have some qualities, but not one of them is an instinctive finisher! What do people expect him to do?
And with Fenty. How many of those bemoaning the state of Town voted Tory last week? Delusionally choosing simplistic answers will probably come back to bite you. I would love to see the back of Fenty, but thinking that is going to instantly resolve anything is as moronic as thinking a Tory government is going to do anything for Grimsby.

This.....he could have easily caused crowd trouble with his goal celebration.

Do we really want this board choosing a new manager? If JF really does intend to sell the club the chance of a new future free from the past would be held back. Surely the new owners should bring in their own man for a completely fresh start. The problem is can we wait that long.
Absolutely agree. This is possibly the reason why the board have waited so long as they feel a takeover is so close and they'll want their own man. Quite likely to be putting candidates off applying as well. Why would you move your family to a different town to be sacked on day one of the new boards tenure? Ask Alan Buckley to take over as caretaker until the end of the season or the new board is in place. I don't know if he'd do it, but would seem ideal.
