What was your favourite 5-2 game at BP? There have been a few recently

Alfreton     01/10/2011
Barrow     11/10/2011
Dartford     24/09/2013
Stevenage     27/08/2016
Tranmere     27/11/2018

I have fond memories of the Alfreton one I must say.

Tranmere because we beat a half decent side.

Has to be Tranmere out of that initial post. Always more satisfying beating a proper Club with history.

But loving Woz's shout of that Palace game in the run-in of 2001-2002 (Andy Todd, Michael Boulding etc). We followed that one up with a 6-2 win not long after so here's hoping that repeats itself too.

Alfreton. 5-2! We should be beating the likes of them 7-0. Oh we did.

We do have a funny habit of clustering big wins together.

Beating Gateshead 6-1 away and then following up with a 7-0 home win against Alfreton two days later one August bank holiday wasn’t bad, nor was beating Mansfield 7-2 on New Year’s Day before hammering Histon 6-1 away again just a couple of days later. The latter was under Neil Woods no less - probably as good as it got for him.

6-1 v Rotherham in the League Cup in Nov 84, followed by 5-1 v Wolves in the League.

(Just checked and we also beat Middlesborough 5-1, Huddersfield  5-1, Cardiff 6-3, and Citeh 4-1 that season. God we were spoiled).

That was 2002. We beat Blackburn 5-2 at BP in 1985. Prior to that they are few and far between except 1900-1901 when there was a glut

Walsall     30/09/1893
Notts Co     21/10/1893
Lincoln     11/11/1899
New Brighton Tower     22/09/1900
Chesterfield     24/11/1900
Burton United     16/02/1901
Durham City     11/02/1922
Accrington S     30/01/1926
Preston     26/02/1927
Millwall     17/03/1934
Chesterfield     22/10/1949
Bristol C     17/09/1960

Incidentally, we have beaten both Man City and Man Utd 5-2 away from home. How many other sides can say that????

Admittedly it was some time ago. 1894 and 1929 respectively.

That 5-2 v Palace in 2002 was something else. It was at the beginning of that Andy Todd inspired run which saw us pull away from the bottom of the league. Pouton was absolutely unstoppable that day.
My favourite 5-2 win though was an away one at Rochdale in 1979. It was my 21st birthday. Town went 2-0 down. The Rochdale "massive" were taking the p*ss and then Town moved up several gears..

Anyone remember the 5-1 West brom game. The connections we had as well. I remember that season we felt like a team was gonna get a hiding pretty soon as we'd not really started firing.

Yes! I was in the Osmond for some reason, also remember the 5-2 against Palace was a classic and I think the 6-2 against Wimbledon was not long after!

We scored seven in the friendly against Japan just before the start of the season, but you're right we didn't score five in a game. We got four eight times and we scored three seven times. What a season it was, though

If you include a League Cup tie with Donny we scored 4 in each of the first three games in 71-72.
