What song would you like to see the team run out to against Forest Green?

Nothing. Just hear the crowd noise. Turn app music/PA ramblings off at 2.50 and let any atmosphere build up.

If we are to have a run out song then it needs to be something unique to GTFC and get the fans going, I do think Sweet Caroline that we used at the end of last season is NOT that song

If we win should play Lou Reed's perfect day at the end.

Depends how we are doing really

'We are the champions' downgraded later in the season (or after four games) to 'Send in the clowns'?

They tried this once back end of last season and the ground just fell flat.

The other issue is the run out music has only 15- 20 seconds max to play so it has to be in your face straight away or it would not work, The PA announcer starts reading out the  linups and officials and so on to fit it all in before KO which overrides the music

I actually really like this.  A great shanty that the whole crowd could join in with. If it needs a Grimsby angle, I bet a local group, Orphan Boy or someone, could record a punky Mariners version.

Orphan Boy is a great shout, love the line “I bleed black and white for you” (I hope thats the correct lyric  )

Otherwise, a strong guitar riff, like AC/DC “ Thunderstruck “

I remember in the late 60's the team used to come out to a song by Ned Miller called " Do what you do, do well ". Maybe a bit dated now but the lyrics were very appropriate.

If it's sea shanties with an explicit Grimsby angle you're after then:

I absolutely love this and could imagine this playing on our ageing speaker system.

It actually gave me a few goose pimples listening to the Lyrics

It's more of a meander. Or a saunter isn't it?

Nothing. Close off the end of the Ponny to keep noise I ; it was never worth it as '"we're moving to a new stadium" but are we balderdash. Close it off, get everyone going - get to intercourse with artificial atmosphere.

Grimsby is fortunate to have a number of songs that were written specifically about the town. Some that spring to mind are ‘The Grimsby Lads’ and ‘The Trawling Trade’ by the legendary folk group The Broadside From Grimsby or individual members. Also, ‘Grimsby Town’ by the X-Seamen’s Institute. Then there are, of course, the memorable Bernie Taupin lyrics to Elton John’s ‘Grimsby’ (although the long instrumental intro would need to be edited out). Like others on here, though, I’d be inclined to stick with ‘Up The Mariners’ by Pisces. It was after all intended to be a fans’ song, it has a distinctive melody and the chorus doesn’t take much remembering.
