C'mon England....... finish off with a win.

Once again as soon as we play a decent team we are second best, let's not kid ourselves that this squad was ever really going to win the whole thing, easy group, easy route through the knockouts.

England in a nutshell. Slow, sloppy and way too open. Started a minute before that when we gave the ball away in midfield, and just went from bad to worse.

England already reverting to type and hitting it long from the back. Can't stay calm under pressure.

How does a country with a fifth of our population have genuine world class players and we don't ?

The most disjointed disorganised England team I have seen in a long time. How on earth did we get to semi's.Don't think any of these would get in Ragarse Rovers reserves. Gareth you are not going to get a medal now.

It’s because they have ‘B’ teams in the league and their equivalent of the Checkatrade is always a sell out 😂😉

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

As I have always thought, it's how you coach the coaches who look after the young kids, I feel we still look att the physical attributes of a player before we ask if they can play, honestly would a Messi have had any chance in England?

We've done better this half but haven't had enough shots when in good positions and didn't take our chances.

Belgium look good on the break and Jones has just shown why he's not good enough for international football.

Could be another goal or two in the last few minutes.

Did the food shop instead. Got home and caught the last few minutes to see Hazard get a second and commentator and Hoddle throwing out excuses. If only England could play teams they should beat all the time.

At least it's looking like a good bet on Kane to win the golden boot.

4 wins against mediocre teams. 3 defeats and 1 goal from a set piece against better quality opposition. Can't see it ever changing to be honest because we are not producing the Hazard's and Mbappe's of this world and i can't see that changing.

How does a country with an 11th/12th of our population produce world class players and we don't?

It doesn't help when the manager has his favourites and continues to play them even though they hardly contribute to the games and are clearly not international quality. He also doesn't seem to react quickly enough when it is going wrong.

In all honesty, was there anyone better sat on the bench? I think we were playing at the limit of our ability, and there is not much more we could have done.

I'm not saying there was better on the bench in fact that confirms to me we are not that good and there was too much hype about winning it.

But there surely has to be better players than Alli, Sterling  and Lingard as well as some of our defenders who conceded two poor goals today.

Correct. Although my maths is wonky. Should have said 13th-14th.

Obviously not. Think they were the best of the bunch and are not quite good enough. Given time and experience, they may do better. I hope so.

Lets be realistic, England haven't really progressed at all, played two good teams in the tournament and lost three times..........  Sweden would have struggled to finish half way up the Championship.  Southgate is a good guy, but we will always be bridesmaids at these tournaments until the structure of our top flight changes.............

Belgium, Man City and Liverpool have mastered the art of lightning counter-attacks, combined with slick one-touch, accurate defence-splitting passes.

All too much for England.  We were carved open at will.  Belgium just had to pick their moments.  We had to chase the game,  which played right into their hands.

Belgium employed the same tactic for their winning goal against Japan.  Against France the outstanding French defence blunted their attacks.  Belgium had to chase the game then.

Not sure where England are now:  hopefully without Jones and what is wrong with Kane?  He keeps getting picked when he has been so out of sorts.
