| The wife was going away for a girly weekend. I jokingly remarked 'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football' 'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked She said 'Well you already know how to play football' |

Apparently you can sign players who are not attached to a club.
Don't understand this statement, surely we would only be signing players who have been released by their clubs so they wouldn't be attached to a club other than loan players. ?

You can still sign unattached players after the window closes if they became unattached during the window, so it is possible to make signings beyond next Wednesday.

By this you mean players on the dole ginny? I'm not sure really good players would get themselves into that position in September would they? The pressure definitely is on Hurst now and tomorrow's result matters as well. Fenty said he was sure the manager wouldn't sign players just to make up the numbers, only players who would improve the squad.. This read more like an instruction than a description to me. So somehow and from somewhere Hurst needs to conjure up at least 2 cracking signings PDQ.

If they have been released, they are free agents and can be signed after the deadline. Loan players are contracted to a club and can only go out on loan up to the end of the transfer window.

Whilst accepting that we are at least two light - my preference would be 3, a keeper, a defender and a striker - I'm still perplexed by the unwillingness to try the young lads, particularly Clifton, if they are good enough to be retained, surely they are good enough to play.

You sometimes get decent unattached players around for one reason or another, so i suspect there will be one or two still without a club, weighing up their options. Problem with your second point is that Hurst said that before and we got Tomlinson and Straker etc, although to be fair, Nolan as well.

We need to adress three areas. We need a goal scorer (Podge) a dominanting, strong, quick centre half (Toto) a wide player with quality (Arnold). Shame Hursty couldn't keep their services, if those 3 had signed we'd have an excellent side. If Nolan has signed I doubt Berrett would have come.
