Anyone in Manchester been persuading a Hungarian to support GTFC?

I was out in Budapest last week and the receptionist said that when he'd been working in Manchester, his boss supported GTFC and was really pleased when we beat Derby (I'm guessing it was the recent friendly).

If he worked at a nightclub it could possibly be me.  It is very unlikely and I would guess someone else is responsibe but had a few hungarain staff, don't  recall talking about Town that much to, although I was once walking through the bars singing about us.

talking of persuading and saving to make another thread anyone else converted people to gtfc?

not quite converted but my son was born in Exeter and lives in Devon, took him to Eastleigh away (he's 2 and a half) and he loved the drums behind us and cheered when we scored. Just hope he sticks with his daddy and supports the mighty mariners

I guess living in Devon his other option is Manchester United.

My advice with kids born in exile is to buy them their favourite crisps or other snack when you take them to Town games. They'll associate the sugar rush with seeing Town.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

intercept them before they get to school and you have a chance...by the time they get to infants there are Man Utd/Chelski/City "fans" and peer pressure leads them that way...

I have many scalps here in Beijing, as do my lads, all their mates are GTFC watchers, sometimes listeners. My mate, Trevor is a Canadian who runs my local bar, Plan B is a big fan and if you go here and look at the pics you can see him wearing his GTFC hat. Ha! https://www.facebook.com/PlanBBeijing/photos/pb.289732591139743.-2207520000.1449013420./801704953275835/?type=3&theater
I use my mug all the time in work and people are always asking me "how did Town get on last night?". A work mate from Portsmouth now has the Mariners as his second team and I even know a lad from Donny who checks on Town too. Oh, but there is one major issue; there is a girl from Scunthorpe works here........

I work away from Grimsby all the time and was once working with a Portsmouth fan.

One day over a chat about football, we reached a conclusion that it is easy to remember people when they support unfashionable football clubs. For example, if he saw Grimsby on the TV or the Grimsby result, it would always remind him of me. Likewise when I see the Portsmouth result I remember him.

This never happens when people tell me they are fans of Man U etc.

I am currently working near Middlesborough with Boro, Newcastle and Hartlepool fans as well as one Spennymoor Town fan.

I will remember the Spennymoor fan, can't say I will remember the others though.

I agree with that Ivano

I worked in MK for some years ( before the Franchise came about thankfully) so with it being a new town that people had moved to from all over the place, had friends who followed Northampton, Luton, Cambridge, Watford, Coventry etc ( and one who was a Scunny fan too) and it was great to be involved with some banter with them and even now, years later, we all still have that connection about not being fashionable together

Even those that had moved up from London to MK weren't too bad if they supported the likes of Palace, Charlton, QPR etc. It was always sweet going to work on a Monday after we'd been in the smoke over a weekend and had turned over some of those southern softies!
