As it stands it looks like Tranmere and Cheltenham will be joining Eastleigh, Forest Green and Brizzle in the conference next season.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Tranmere relegated to the conference after 94 years in the football league.

So Barnet scrape through in the end to win the title and promotion. Well done to them and now we know that town will meet Eastleigh in the playoffs.

Haha, very tempting. I remember the joy on their faces as news of Chesterfield's winner came through.

What's with all the anti-Tranmere feeling? I know we got relegated at their place but it was hardly their fault.

I just couldn't understand it at the time and I still don't know why they were so overjoyed at our misery to this day. Karma has just paid those fans back, because they'll be hurting tonight.

The gloating that day was bang out of order IMO. The worst day of my town supporting life - that takes some doing

Just said on BT Sport a Bristol v Town Wembley final would be tasty and a near sell out.

I think that might be a slight exaggeration. Maybe 40,000 - 50,000 though which would be fantastic. Lots of work to do before that. Banish all thoughts of Wembley at this point and leave it to BT Sport.

The delight Tranmere fans took from our demise was extremely difficult to take. I was there that day, I remember the news of the Chesterfield goal filtering through (who doesn't?!) and the Tranmere fans celebrated that more than the two goals they scored against us that day.

They were still bitter about a 3-1 defeat at BP back in March 2001 when Livvo poleaxed their keeper and the goal was allowed to stand.

They laughed, danced, jeered, stayed behind to mock us and revel in our misery. We had adults in tears. They generally took utter delight in our misery and misfortune, in a way that you might expect a bitter local rival might do.

It was my stag do - went in suits and black ties to commemorate the loss of bachelorhood.
Also remember that their youth team won a cup of some kind and we cheered their kids team more than they did - indicative of their supporters mindset.

I remember the gloating that day. We made a mess of the game but they seemed pleased for our demise more than they did for their own success.

Another biggish club in this dvision, it's going to be tough for all 3 of the play-off contenders who don't make it to challenge for the title next season in what is an incredibly competitive division. Every year there seems to be another big name coming down.

Another incentive to get out now.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

I have two very good friends who are great guys and Tranmere fans, so I'm certainly not gloating about this. As I texted them today," I know how you feel because I felt exactly the same way 5 years ago." Getting relegated from League Two to the conference is a whole different level of misery to getting relegated from League One to League Two. We should know that as well as anyone.

I remember that day too well. I'll never forget their gloating faces for no reason at all. In context I remember our reaction with Brighton fans the season before when they were relegated along with us on the last day of the season. I had a smirk to myself when I saw it, pathetic bunch. Will hopefully not have to play them for a long time
