Surprised as he was developing into an excellent pundit on Sky.

I wonder if his coaching skills have ever been put to the test?

Very strange appointment i think. No experience coaching. And its the end of his days on Sky as well im guessing. Be interesting to see who else Roy brings in to the coaching staff.

He's staying on at Sky. Both part time roles.

surprised about this given the lack of coaching experience .However his wealth of experience at the top level is a bonus.Having said that though you don't necessarily have to be a great player or even a good one to be a great coach- Mourinho  stands out as an obvious candidate

Dont be too pessimistic, perhaps England will go out in normal time rather than penaltys this time.

I think it is a good appointment, he has quite a lot of the coaching badges and I've been surprised by how good a pundit he has been.

Think it's a smart appointment myself. He's shown that he knows the game inside while being a pundit on Sky and will be able to relate to the players.
