Ashley Chambers made both York's goals, as they deservedly won 2-0.   19,884 there. (No mention made on SSN as usual).

Attendance not that bad considering that Newport were struggling in the League and the area has been hit hard with the recession.  York are also there again shortly for a far more important game.  York to Wembley is a 400 mile round trek and it is an expensive day out. Their 4th trip to Wembley in the last 8 years.

The Luton game should be good game with a cracking atmosphere and a good crowd.  About 50,000 expected with 10,000 from York.  York might try and emulate our double Wembley win in 98. (Although 2 divisions lower).

City have been booed off a few times this season.  They are still well ahead of where are and play better attacking football.

I wonder how much York City will get in terms of revenue from those two Wembley visits including merchandising?

Earlier in the season, it was mentioned that without a new purpose built community stadium York would have to cut they're finances, maybe they won't have to for a season or two now.

Do you reckon? Must say I'm surprised as I think York are one of the best teams in this league and that Luton are shite (or have been whenever I've seen them play this season).

York only potentially managing 10,000 for a playoff final is pathetic.

I read a couple of days ago Luton had sold 22k tickets while York had sold 3k. Going to be overwhelming support for the southerners but that won't win them the match.

I hope York do it. Would be more of a threat next season if they didn't go up. So much pressure at Luton to get promoted it seems to hinder their chances of going up every year.

And why is it "pathetic" may I ask?

A small club like York, without a huge fanbase or a great footballing tradition. And its a non league play off final not the Champions League Final.

And they have been to Wembley loads of times in the last few years.

Of course,if we got there, well it would be so much different. What do ya reckon  - 15,000 from here??

Agreed 10k is a good following from York especially as the one off daytrippers would have had 4 wembley trips in 4 years and 2 in 2 weeks, and it costs a fortune in todays recession.

Because York is a considerably bigger place than Grimsby / North East Lincolnshire. We would take far more than 15,000 for a playoff final. 18,000 Town fans went to Cardiff and that's much more difficult journey from here than York to London. We took over 20,000 for the Paint trophy final. A city the size of York should certainly be taking much more than 10,000 fans for their most important fixture in years.

Really it's their most important fixture in two years - they lost out to Oxford in the 2009/10 play off final

I think that's answered by cod.gtfc
Novelty factor of Wembley now running low. The amount we took to the play off final was a lot less than the auto windscreen.

I dont think we took 18k to Cardiff.I seem to remember a figure of 13k.

Remember we are talking about a NON LEAGUE play off final, and neither is York as big as youre making out.
