Don't think this one has built in Freeview does it ?

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

That's incorrect.

The term "HD Ready" means a TV is capable of displaying a high-definition signal at either 720p, 1080i or 1080p using a component video or digital input; the Samsung Series 5 is "HD Ready".

It's still debatable whether the human eye can truly differentiate between 720p and 1080p on a 32" TV in any case.

Any TV capable of 720p and above are "HD Ready".

There are two different "kite marks"; the first one for TVs that can deliver 720p and/or 1080i, and the second for TVs that can deliver a true 1080p picture:

If a TV actually has a built-in HD tuner then it doesn't need to use the HD Ready badge, but I don't believe the particular Samsung TV in question has.

In any case, none of this really matters. A top of the range 720p Plasma TV will deliver a lot better picture than a bog-standard 1020p TV.

My first HDTV was a Samsung (around 6 years ago), but nowadays I'm a huge fan of the Panasonic Viera Plasma TVs; generally regarded as the best of breed in the "affordable" bracket.

A few manufacturers have now started selling "Ultra-wide TVs" that match the proportions of a Cinema screen (21:9). They are extremely impressive, but will set you back around £3,500

You can see this TV in action at Debenhams at Meadowhall; they have a full demo setup there.

Sorry to get boring with the technology, but I spent a bit of time researching this prior to my last TV purchase.

Yes, the Panasonic Viera Plasma TVs are generally regarded as having the best picture of the lot.

I much prefer plasma to LCD.
