Well Wrawbs.

Being a member of the 'dead hand gang' didn't have a detrimental effect I see.

Where are you going and what are you going to read?

And run up another multi thousand pound overdraft.

Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play.
It is bound up with hatred, jealousy, boastfullness,
disregard of all rules and a sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence;
In other words it is war without the shooting.

University is the worst preparation you can ever get for life in the real world.

However, lots of beer, lots of sex (even mild fingering), staying in bed all day and meeting the people that will become your real mates is not to be sniffed at.

Just remember to squeeze in a bit of studying while you're there. You can get a 2:1 without even trying and a 1st if you put just a slight bit of effort in.

I'm just sick of all these people, nearly always some tosser in the times, saying how easy a levels have become and if all students don't get a's, they should take apprenticeships in dustbin men

i'd quite frankly love to see them take a-levels, the only reason more pass now is the fact that college is a lot more open, everyone can go, and they're just jealous they didn't get that oppertunity

when you've worked this hard to get something, to have someone tell you it was easy is like a kick in the face

nah recon they are getting easier - kids dont just evolve better brains over a generation lol surely if more kids went to do a levels the results would be worse cos you get all the thickos going and dragging the averages down, also, larger class sizes and all that

Alot of said 'thicko's' dropped out over the course of the year before the exams when I was there (or were kicked off for poor attendance).

I live round the corner and hang out with the Uni President quite a lot. He is also from Grimsby, not a football fan though.

Definitely easier.  You can even get extra marks if you tell the examiner your dog died last week or some other load of bullshit.  They are designed to get more people going on further education thus keeping the unempoyment figures down.

Get yourselves into the real world and get a job.

Oh and dont moan if you get a well paid job and are expected to pay back some of the thousands milked off the taxpayer in the first place.

Nope.  I got off my @rse and got a job.  Not sure I had the intelligence or application to get them in my day. (TBH possibly had the intelligence but not the application).  But in my day you had to earn them, no such subjects as "The amount of hair on David Beckhams @rse" etc.  If your cat passed away it did not affect the scoring system in your exam.  Exams were passed on merit, not on politics.

I think that's a bit unfair to be honest. Of course there are some courses and subjects that are there purely to get people in education to stop unemployment growing. However, using myself as an example, the subjects I studied were Economics, Chemistry and Biology which are considered some of the more difficult subjects to study. I also plan to study Dentistry at university after a year out and if everyone had the mindset of "A levels are easy, get a job straight away" then the country would be devoid of professionals like dentists and doctors and lawyers. So to say that A levels are easy and choosing to go to university makes myself and others lazy is an insult to be honest.

Perhaps if the uni courses were a bit shorter and a bit more intense so you didn't go down the Nelson Mandella bar every night for your 80p a pint beer, then I might have some sympathy.

So you're saying that no students do any work? Cause my sister is doing a law degree at Warwick and has to do about 60 hours of work a week.

to be fair, i do agree with you to some extent, i did the really tricky subjects, history, ict and law, in the final year, which wer extremly hard whilst people i know sat in classes such as film studies, media studies, photography, art and design which are a hell of a lot easier, even the teachers admit it, but they come out with the same level of award as me

but the part about the cat passed away, i didn't know anyone who used that excuse to gain extra marks, apart from my sisters friend, who's father passed away about a week before her exams, which, in my opinion, is such a tragic event it must affect the grades

Ok you boring set of well mannered tw@ts.

Here I am after a prize wind up and not one of you goes into orbit regarding my comments.

I don't really have a problem at all with students. It wasn't my cup of tea but as they say "horses for courses".

I do feel that A levels do not hold as much sway as they did a few years ago.  Anyone studying for them was considered a brainbox etc.
Maybe because so many more people appear to be taking them nowadays (any geek with figures will probably prove me wrong though), they seem to be less well thought of.
I also think that because there are so many more subjects it has devalued the product.

So to all you guys/girls out there.  Well done on not biting.

(Now go out and get a bloody job you long haired bunch of hippies)

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

(Now go out and get a bloody job you long haired bunch of hippies)

love it

So you're saying that no students do any work? Cause my sister is doing a law degree at Warwick and has to do about 60 hours of work a week.

I didn't do that much in the 1960's (you know when educational standards were allegedly through the roof). I had 8 hours lectures a week. Some of the teaching was pretty dreadful too. One lecturer simply read Prices and Incomes Board reports to us in Labour Economics for example.

Doing 60 hours a week is a bit ott though. Anyway anything you "learn" in terms of facts will be rapidly out of date nowadays. The whole experience was what it was all about. Enjoy it for that rather than the questionable "facts" you might learn

Wrawby, you won't have time for GTFC once you get to uni; it'll be wall to wall minge every night for you.

Pink, brown, you name it; they'll be banging the Wrawby front door down every day as they line up for an hour on your tower of power.

Just you wait...

On student money it'll be half in those very salubrious settings of the imp and mc craps best quarter shite to finish it off.

Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play.
It is bound up with hatred, jealousy, boastfullness,
disregard of all rules and a sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence;
In other words it is war without the shooting.

Cloud 9?

Oh and Wrawbs BG is ROUGH as in coarse sandpaper in your boxer shorts. There are the occasional jems, they often have a boyfriend back home and go home to work at the weekends. Grind 'em down like I did and you'll get a stunner. Takes time though.

Grimsby Pete's "we are all 50% bisexual" is still correct, just on the wrong side of the odds line!

You'll also find that once you go to university that every-day pranks will be the norm, with much higher stakes than you'll have previously experienced.

I was caught out early on by a house-mate that used to perform a mean "double-decker". That's to say that when he went for dump, he'd actually do it directly into the toilet cistern (the water tank). So, you'd go for a wee, flush, and all this turd would appear in the bowl.

It confused the fuck out of you the first few times...

He soon stopped when I manufactured a life-like Soreen turd and left it in the fridge when his new girlfriend came round for tea and biscuits...

There was an occasion when he made frozen turd lollipops, complete with authentic wooden sticks with hand written jokes on them. The initial unveiling occurred when he invited a strict Muslim fellow student to the house. Suffice to say, it didn't go down very well.

It may not surprise you to find out that my house-mate was ex-RAF...

Dreadful, you have to work all the time. The government have decided that there's too much slacking etc so banned the students union from having any booze in the bar. If you slack in the first year thinking you can catch up next year don't cos they are going to chuck you out. Defo NO SEX allowed.

So no point in going really is there?

Enjoy, work hard, make friends for life. The very best years of your life.

haha, to true macca.

as for the student loans company, get used to it, 4 years and never got my money at the right time, its a combination of your uni flipping up and just a very badly run company based all the way in scotland.

they are shyte but as macca said, if its late, concentrate and finding that hole to play in
