Couldn’t make the original fixture, or the rearranged date until a work event was postponed just now meaning I now can. Alas, I don’t have a ticket.

Appreciate it’s a long shot at this stage, but if anyone has a spare one going, you have a buyer ready and waiting here.

Taaa!

I did that for the Boxing Day game last season; topsy-turvy matches like that are the worst to find yourself trying to hide your allegiance in the home end. Don’t get me wrong, that home crowd at Harrogate is comfortably the poshest and least intimidating I have ever encountered in football, but it’s never the less awkward when your mask slips as Crocombe scores an injury time own goal to gift them the win.

Having the píss ripped out of you by a bunch of well-spoken chaps exclusively wearing tweed and Barbour jackets is never a pleasant experience when you’ve no real comeback.

Bradford ST mate of mine did this and got his ticket cancelled even though his address wasn’t in Bradford

I used a fake name and address, and set-up a burner Gmail address to receive the e-ticket. They do a lookup against the away club’s database.

I thought clubs were forced to stop this practice as it is incompatible with GDPR legislation.

You may well be right, but that was the assumption I made and hence the precautionary workarounds I took. I assume that’s how the aforementioned Bradford fan got caught out.

Go in with the home supporters, it'll be fine if you're not wearing colours and don't get too carried away when Town score. I've done it loads of times.

Including away at West Ham where we won, I had to sit on my hands when we scored and I found myself stood on the tube home listening to a Hammers supporter turn to his mate and say 'if I could get my hands on a Grimsby fan now I'd cut his facking throat...'

I wasn't sure so I've had a quick Google and it looks like it was an FA Cup game on Feb 7th 1996 but we didn't win it, we drew 1-1!

I'm fairly sure it's that game because Brian Laws scored and I certainly remember that. The W Ham team looked formidable: Dicks, Dowie, Bishop, Cottee, Miklosko et al

The year we beat them 3 0 in the replay? I was at both games if so. Atmosphere in the away end was truly exceptional that night even for Town, one of the best ever, loved it!

I followed Poojah’s advice, no bother at all. Not sure it was worth the effort though 😅

The only good thing about tonight was a couple of pints and pizza at Major Tom's Social before the game.
