Did excellent job when managing Wimbledon, didn’t seem to have the same “success” at any of his other managerial appointments and people may overlook how good a player he was with Tottenham for ten years.

Yeah, not disputing that (though personally I’m too young to remember his playing career), it’s just that it’s one of those instances where a single shock moment becomes better remembered than a person’s many achievements.

Mention Kevin Keegan and the fist thing I think of his “I’d love it if we beat them” rant. Zinedine Zidane, and I think of him head butting Marco Materazzi in the World Cup Final. Eric Cantona and it’s his kung-fu kick.

It’s just how it is.

True, but I always remember Jolley for that epic Notts County game which, in a way was as important as a playoff final and had a late winner too.
