Gut feeling Town relegated or stay up?
No not sure option.
Yes we have game/s in hand over the bottom 2 but Sutton seem to be on a roll now and Colchester are grinding out points. Us and FGR look to be struggling.
I voted stay up but I think it will be close.

Stay Up. Sutton will run out of games, I cant see them getting 2 wins and we only need 1 possibly 2 imo
Should never ever be in this position though

Going down . I’ve seen it too many times to not know the signs . The players rallied a bit when they got their own way but reverted to type today . I’ll say it again , Artells biggest error was not insisting on his own trusted back room

I’ve voted for staying up.
But the reality has dawned that we will follow the likes of Workington, Merthyr and Bradford Park Avenue into non league obscurity.
The money is in the south of England and rich cities like Manchester.
No money. No league team. Simples.

I think we will go down because for weeks we haven't shown the necessary fight. In a situation like this, you need a team of battlers, of players prepared to run through the proverbial brick wall, and we just don't have them.*
Everything has just been too casual, assumptions made by fans that ppg calculations are on our side, but all that advantage is being slowly ebbed away and the last 2 games have been horrific from a performance point of view, so we cannot even cling to the notion that results will turn because we are playing quite well.
I think that late penalty at Sutton was the turning point, it seemed it was in the stars when you get a ridiculous decision like that go against you.
I hope to God I am wrong, as it would take despair to a new low following the Mariners and we would take a long time to recover.

7/1 to down. Bookies think FG have gone and Sutton highly likely.

Right now it's in our hands. We have winnable home games against Bradford and Swindon that could take us to 45 points. a couple more from our other five fixtures sets a very tough target for Sutton from their remaining 5 fixtures. I cant see FGR getting near that total.
I think we will stay up, just.
But if we lose on Monday It might be a different story.

Think it’s underestimated quite how much of a run it’s still going to take for Sutton & for us to absolutely capitulate.
If we produce similar performances against Bradford & Newport then I might change that view, but I’ve a feeling we’ll still be fine, just not the 3-4 games to spare I thought last week.

I reckon we need about 42 points so 1 win or 3 draws. We have 3 home games against mid-table sides. Think we will be fine. Colchester have some very tricky games.

Sutton have a very winnable game on Monday which could take them to 39 points. Having then won four in the bounce i think its extremely optimistic to think they wouldn't get more than 2 more points from their remaining four fixtures. I think we need 46.

We looked like a relegation team today.
|
| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

Probably off down unless the teams around us manage to be worse. No fight in this lot, just showing up for a pay cheque and want to be anywhere else than on that pitch. Clifton should have gone for some money if he had the chance as his only legacy at Grimsby Town will be being part of 3 relegated teams.

42 is a tad low granted, and far from certain, but there are 3 teams 1 of whom go down, assuming FGR are doomed. I am banking on Colchester not getting many points to give a safety net in case Sutton catch us up. Sutton were 1/10 a few weeks ago!

Never expected anything today. And it’s a good job. We looked like we were playing a team in the league above.
I’ve voted and my gut feeling is relegated. Luck just isn’t with us. And even if we stay up, I think money will see us down eventually. Fúcking eye-watering the amount of money in this league now. And it sticks in my throat that Colchester escape every year with obscene debts. We try and play the game and it does fúck all good.
Sorry. Gutted today. Not at our result but the ones around us.

Absolute b&*^%ks. Technically weak but have a look at the effort over those 6 games prior to Wrexham. We have seen some absolute mercenaries here, struggle to label any of the current squad that.

FFS, stop this obsession with Scotch bloody eggs!!.. The food available at BP these days outstrips the shitty burgers n sausage rolls we used to get, and it costs the club fook all anyway!!... Let's try n get to the summer with our league status intact, then the autopsy and plans to sort this shitshow of a club out can begin.

Yes I've been "lucky" enough to go to all the home games, and have seen a tiny handful of wins. We battled well that night but one swallow does not a summer make, sadly.

They’re not mercenaries but they’re mentally weak. More often than not the vast majority of the team turn up without the stomach for a battle and as soon as we go behind that’s it. They had a run of 6 that was reasonable, not brilliant, just the sort of bare minimum that you’d expect. If I only performed to an adequate standard at my job for 1 out of 8 working days then I’d quickly be fired.

Absolutely this. Jesus - Artell has somehow managed to reframe reality where a ground out 0-0 draw is seen as a golden result and every rare point that comes our way is apparently fantastic. Just don’t look at the easy pastings or the games we’ve been out of after 20 minutes. At least we won’t have to endure him saying ‘we’ve only lost 1 away match since I came to this club’ any longer. They’re starting to look like the government now - pulling your chain and trying to have you believe that abject regular sh1t shows are actually equal to ‘turning the corner’ or growth and success.

I just don’t see where the points are coming from? We might scrape a couple of draws before the seasons end but we’re shockingly poor. No fight and we go behind sooooo easily. I think last day, we’ll go down. Hope not and the next two games are mahoosive.

Really?...Fenty strangled the club to near death, JS & AP have had to sort a shitshow of club out and are slowly getting there. They have invested more into the infrastructure in 3 years than Fenty did 20 years, and are trying to employ people who are qualified for roles rather than their fish filleting mates..

Sorry fellahs !! ... I just don't get it betting on "Town" to go down for financial gain, to think I stand proud with you when i attend matches. In the cold light of day and being realistic Yes i see us going down BUT its not over yet till the final whistle at Crawley. Ohh see you in the "Bookies" Grand National Day the only time i go near a betting shop £10 on "Kitty's Light" . Cross me fingers & Toes for Monday at home to Bradford. Grimbarian and Proud UTM.

Next Saturday is massive. All 4 teams at the bottom are at home. The other 3 are all hosting teams in the top 4 (and who will all likely get promoted automatically once Mansfield implode and throw promotion away as they always do). We have Newport County.
Famous last words but…
Suttons final 4 games are about as tough as you can get. I think they’ll beat Swindon on Monday but beyond that another 3 points in those final 4 games would be a huge achievement for them. I can’t see them getting more than 42/43 points. And their GD is terrible.
FGR have a nightmare run of 4 fixtures before a couple of more winnable games to conclude the season. They don’t look to be in the form to get much if anything out of the next 4. I certainly can’t see them getting more than 9 points before the end of the season which would only get them to 42 points.
Colchester will stay up. They’re not losing many and have 5 of their final 7 games after Monday at home where they haven’t lost since New Years Day. They’ll be fine.
I think we’re probably safe with another 4 points. If we get another 6 or 7 then Sutton and/or FGR will be looking at having to get more than 6 points from their difficult run of games to overtake us given their GD. I just can’t see Sutton or FGR getting 7 or more points from the tough games I’ve highlighted.
4 points from the next 2 home games would be good IMO. Even 3 points would be okay.
And it wouldn’t be the end of the world if Col U pull clear so they are already safe when we go there on April 16th.
Summary: 43 points is highly likely to keep us up. 45 or 46 and I think we’re definitely safe.

I've been reading posts like this for weeks. First it was Sutton who were definitely down, then Colchester had too many matches in a short space of time but it certainly looks perilous to me. We will all breathe easier if we win on Monday but that is the big if.

I'm resigned to it. Not much I can do about it, so anything else is a bonus.

I Can't see us staying up, i just think we either don't impose ourselves enough or not scoring goals from many areas. W are relying on those teams below us to drop points, is the only hope we have really although its still in our hands.,

After 6 hours in the car just getting there ! To concede in the manner we did it summed up our plight and possibly our mental state. We lacked purpose we looked frail. Really disappointed really worried. lose Monday and I think we may unravel as Colchester are looking they may go on a run FG too much to do as for Sutton after the absolute travesty with the late Pen against us have the belief. Sutton keep winning where as we can't I think we will go down

I'm struggling to see where we get points from so I think we may well go down. I've seen nothing in the last couple of weeks to suggest we'll beat Bradford at home, and I think Colchester looked way better than us when they were om sky against Mansfield last week. As for Sutton they've pulled a couple of big rabbits out of the hat lately and seem to have the opposite impetus to us. Artell can massage his ego with talk of unbeaten runs but we've won once in god knows how long. At least he won't be able to sprout his weekly "we've only lost once away" any more. I hope I'm very wrong but we seem like a rudderless ship at the moment

But your calculations are just a guess. A few weeks ago the odds on Sutton having any chance at all were a long shot. Here we are a few weeks later and a draw with us and 4 wins on the spin and they have all the momentum. Anything can and probably will happen. We will know some more after Mondays games but it is not looking good from where I'm sat.

A couple of games ago I was feeling slightly more comfortable with the knowledge that FGR and Sutton would need to find promotion form to realistically overhaul us. Well, Sutton have suddenly decided to do just that and we're right back in it again. This run of four games: MK Dons, Gillingham, Wrexham and Barrow was always going to be the toughest part of our run-in and I would have been content beforehand with the 4 points we've achieved. The games start to get a bit 'easier' now but our form has disappeared and the mental solidity we'd started to show in that 6 game run has crumbled away worryingly easily. I think it's going to be really close. Sutton will run out of games before we do but if they can continue at their current PPG they'll get to 46 points. Can we beat that? I think we can, but it's going to be a struggle. Colchester are currently doing enough but have some tough games to come. FGR have folded a bit since the Sutton defeat but they're still only a couple of wins away from us. The next two home games are going to be crucial; I think we need 3 points minimum. After that, 4 of our 5 remaining games are away.

Orsi will send us down on the last game and cup his ears to the town fans. These owners are as bad as fenty. NL here we come
That could happen but he won't cup his ears because it was Hurst that did not trust him. Most of the fans wanted him to have an extended run in the team.

Please god I’m wrong but I voted relegation.
I just can’t believe there can be two worse teams than Town - it’s like everything that could have gone wrong this season has gone wrong. With Rose and Vernam out our lack of any quality going forward has been shocking…just a little bit of magic from either Monday and I’ll happily change my mind 🙏

Things look bleak now. A win on Monday changes our outlook. A win might come in a game where we least expect it.
When we beat Liverpool in extra-time (unbelievable now) no one expected it. The joke was they would score 10 goals and need a bigger scoreboard. We have a much weaker team now but strange things happen in football.

Changed my mind after today's results. Not just our pathetic failure to see off a poor Bradford, but the way FGR, Sutton and Colchester played today, They had 6, 8 and 7 shots on target respectively. Two of them were away from home for christ's sake.
They are all creating more chances than us, and I can't see us keeping ahead of any of them quite frankly, let alone two of them.
I hope I am wrong, but it seems to me that they all have some momentum while we are gradulaly slipping into the abyss.

Remember where you heard it first, if we go down Gav, Green, Maher & Amos all get offered deals. I’m also convinced 1878 will stick with Artell.

Can’t see it myself but if that were to materialise then 1878 would quickly become the new John Fenty.

To be fair I was being sarcastic, one thing I would say is that whoever the manager would be in the NL they’ll need to do a lot of homework as I’d suspect a Head of Recruitment would be a luxury we’d need to consider the worth of.

With enthusiastic, sensible owners and good managers I really thought we were going to make something of ourselves.. the FA cup run last season I thought was a sign of the times changing for our club but I am starting to think there is some kind of curse at Blundell Park.. not sure if Fenty got a witch doctor to cast a hex on us as he walked out of the chairman's office for the final time but we just seem destined to fail. I simply can't believe how much of a dumpster fire this season has been especially after the misery we endured witn Ian Holloway and the like.
I desperately want us to stay up, I really do.. and about 3-4 games ago I would have said the fight was coming back and we were in with a chance of surviving but now I really just don't know.
My gut feeling is we go down. I desperately hope we do not.

I can’t do the NL again. I can’t accept a third relegation out of the league in such a short space of time. Too much emotion invested in the last two times and clawing our way back only to ruin everything with repeated incompetence. This is why I’m worried, anxious and sad because it’ll be the end of my 40+ year commitment to following Town. I just haven’t got it in me. I’ll have to walk away.

Looking at many of the teams in the national league I can see us struggling. It’ll be square one again. Another rebuild. Oh and dealing with the inept administration of the National league. Christ I thought this was all behind us.

This is very sadly close to how I feel too. Football and what it has become in general is making me utterly miserable. I tell myself that at least we’re on a (comparatively) sound financial footing. But frankly, it translates to the square root of fuçk all success-wise and you wonder why anyone bothers playing by the book. I’ve hated this season.

I just said the same to my lad . I’m too old and tired to go through that again . Some will say I’m not a true supporter and they could be right but after 43 years supporting and the last 20 years of crap I’m just done . Life is too short now

We have played by the book but we have spent very poorly. Plus no good news or future good news makes us look a poor option to sign for. We should of done what Lincoln did and put all the money into the new training ground.

No I have said it already , I would totally get why people would sack it off - it's bloody energy sapping supporting Town and no doubt there are better/more rewarding things you could do on a Saturday afternoon . I just feel fortunate I got to see the 80's and 90's and feel more for the younger fans who didn't even get those times , we were lucky really and although many of us probably didn't recognise it at the time we would never have it so good . I will keep going but more for seeing mates , a few beers and just out of blind loyalty - if I had much (any) expectation of on the field I would have stopped going years ago tbh .
