He might be able to walk away from the boardroom but surely as sole owner of both the ground and club he can’t walk from his financial responsibility

Is this step one of his route to sell off the land the stadium is on? His commitment to the club diminishes everyday and it makes more easier for him to remove himself entirely and take more commercial minded decisions. He could say that to keep the ground will cost you £11m or I’ll give you notice to quit and sell it for residential development.

So being some Football Chairman is not his ilk. This crutch took Gainsborough Trinity to the near reaches of getting into the Football Conference, only to leave them struggling after his false money failed to achieve EFL status.
I am worried, that after falling for the Mariners that glorious August Saturday in 1971 when Matt Tees buried the ball from a header at the Osmond end against the Scunts, that although they were lucky, finishing bottom of the Football League in 74-75, this time they will be relegated.
Swann seems to have done a runner? Leaving the club with no assets? I doubt now that they will be a viable club outside of the EFL. Having seen what the Conference did to Boston United when they were relegated, I cannot see them getting into the Conference.
We will have to live on our memories of playing them for some considerable time I think. I did not think that day in August 71 I would never get the chance to seem my team beat our nearest rivals play again!
So long iron, long may my memory live!

Good effort. Two puns in such a short sentence. Shame for Scunny, but there for the grace of god and all that. Keith Hill has a cunning plan though apparently, but I think it will about as useful as Baldrick's. Can see them going down another level or two yet, maybe even into oblivion.

Of course he can. If he wanted to be an utter C**T he could carry on milking his club after moving on. Imagine how bad that would be !!

| The wife was going away for a girly weekend. He's still there, he's just there as a non chairman who is actually the chairman. That'll end well. At least he owns the ground, I'm sure that's just a benign loan.

I suppose the thing with the Boston comparison is that Boston had previous with the powers that be at this level.
They were (maybe still are) hated by many for what was seen as cheating their way out of this league in the early 2000's. That wasn't forgotten and I think the refusal to admit them into the Conference was as much about the delivery of delayed karma as it was about breaching rules.
The chiefs at Conference HQ make the rules up as they go, as we've seen on many occasions. Their handling of the situation in the last 2 years was border line comedy. In fact if it wasn't such a farce and detrimental to so many clubs it would have been funny.
Refusing Scunny into the league would arguably leave them with another year with a less than complete 24 teams, I'm not sure they want to see that happen again.

I'm not sure why Scunny wouldn't be allowed into the National League. They are paying their wages on time aren't they? They don't owe any money to anyone who's going to potentially serve them with a winding up order. And if they were refused entry the team in 21st would be reprieved. The National League was only 23 teams last season because Macclesfield were expelled on the eve of the new season & was only 23 teams this season because NL North & South were voided last season.

No ground and no guarantee they will be able to complete the season financially are two potential reasons to start you off.

Glanford Park- you don't need to own a ground to play at it. West Ham don't own the London Stadium. Should they be thrown out of the Premier League. And what makes you think they won't be able to complete the season financially? All the debt is to their now ex-Chairman. Has any football owner ever called his debt in and bankrupted their own club?

All Swann has to do is put up the ground for building land then the problems begin !
No ground, no passion for the club, business head on to get his loan money back, remove financial backing for next season after the inevitable relegation.
What can the club then offer the Conference ??
Who will then come in to buy off the debt, pay for the ground etc etc????

You need access to a ground to play at it though, and that’s the issue. Swann needs cash to complete his renovation of his completely rebuilt Sands Venue Resort in Blackpool, set to cost nearly £30m. It is currently little more than a shell, and like one of those mad punters on Grand Designs who finds themselves staring into a financial black hole, he’s basically left in a scenario where he has to sell the family jewels in order to avoid oblivion. He doesn’t want rent; he wants to liquidate the stadium and it’s land into a big lump of cold, hard cash. What makes me believe they won’t be able to complete the season financially? First and foremost, there is no debt, at least not to Swann. That’s the point of Swann taking control of the ground - he realised that given the trajectory the club was heading in, the club would never repay what he had ‘invested’ organically. He had visions of a sustainable, mid-table Championship club playing in a modern, 14,000 seater stadium on the Lincolnshire Lakes development. That was misguided, and simply never happened. There is however the matter of a £2m EFL loan, which in Swann’s own words, saved the club from administration. Repayments of that loan are due to start next season. Then there’s the wage bill. Their accounts released today had their wage bill at nearly 3.5m. Clearly, that’s not reflective of their League Two squad, so why is it so big? It’s because they are still paying a portion of wages from their overspending League One days; a remnant of Swann jettisoning players by whatever means to try and stem the financial losses once he realised his dream would never come to fruition. They are going to be subject to a massive decline in income next season, whilst expenditure is likely to increase, for the reasons above. That’s an absolutely mad scenario for a club about to drop into non-league, but it’s what’s staring Scunny in the face. So the National League will seek binding assurances from the club’s ownership that the club, or it’s guarantors, are able to ensure the necessary funds to complete the season are available. And that’s where things fall down. Swann won’t give them those assurances, because all the evidence points to him not putting another penny into that club. He wants his money back. That’s wrong actually, he NEEDS his money back. The club is dead to him. It’s worthless. The only thing of any value to him has already been siphoned off into his company, Coolsilk. What does Coolsilk do? It’s not for me to say, but take a look at its, ahem, company website and most recent Companies House filings and make up your own mind. It has two directors; Peter Dennis Swann and Karin Louise Swann, and has a head office denoted as DN22 9BY. All I’ll say is that it’s a funny looking business park. I’ve nothing more to say on Scunny; it’s not my problem. It just genuinely galls me to see clubs destroyed by cúnts like Swann, even if they are the old enemy. They are as important to their community as GTFC is to ours.

Glanford Park is worthless. There is virtually unlimited amounts of undeveloped land available in the area around GP since the M181 was cut in half. Why would someone buy GP at the premium, have the huge cost of clearing the site and building on it when there is a cheaper and more straight forward alternative? Some owners just write off their debt when they sell up. Not all departing owners expect every penny back. In fact I am only aware of one who has done it.
