Great effort by the lads against a Salford team that were helped by one of the worst refs I've ever seen.

Unfortunately a point wasn't enough today in my opinion, I've finally accepted we are going down

We've been down since 30th December

I was long ago resigned to it after the dismal haul in the spell of games against the teams around us. Long may the unbeaten run continue. Not many clubs get relegated on an unbeaten run into double figures.

It looks like the impossible job now but until it's mathematical certain we can not do it I am desperately clutching onto a very thin straw.

I've always had a small glimmer of hope inside me but thatt equaliser hurt. Hurt alot. Forgetting where we are league table wise fair play to PH for trying and is that 6 unbetean?  Yes I know it's irrelevant and we're pretty much down but atleast we aren't getting smashed every week

Do you think John Fenty will expect to be carried around on the fans' shoulders if we do manage to avoid the drop?

Away at Cambridge last game. We can carry him from the pitch, through the turnstyles and dump the *newark* in the River Cam.

It's actually 7 games

6 draws and 1 win  so 9 points

Unfortunately we'd have had more points if we'd won 3 drawn 1 and lost 3

Although to be honest the only one we came close to losing was at Mansfield where we ourselves got the late equaliser

There is always grounds for some hope if you look carefully.

We were awful for most of this season.  Now we are very hard to beat - unbeaten in 7 games.  We used to concede early and then fold.   Now we can score first. Today we scored a good goal after 2 mins and could have had more.  This against the team with the best defensive record in Div 2,

We cannot keep a lead.  The next step is to convert a lead into a win.

Newport were 11 points adrift and survived.  They must have had hope and belief.

Our unbeaten run can be a platform for wins on the last lap.  The performance today is encouraging.  We could be playing very poorly and picking up lucky points.

Colchester and Southend are the 2 teams we need to finish above.  We can at least challenge Southend on goal-difference.

We do need Barrow to beat Colchester.  We can continue to improve.  We cannot forecast with any accuracy on how many points these 2 rivals will get.  Possibly very few.  Therefore, we keep fighting.

(Hurst also got Shrewsbury out of a similar hole).

We have 33 points and are 7 points adrift of safety with 8 games left.

I think we would need to win five of the last 8 to stay up.

Not impossible, but we have won only two of the 15 games under Hurst, So not looking very likely.

Last Minute Equalisers
Three Winnable Home games and didn’t win any of them
Season has never really got going
Town Miss the 12th man so much (us)
Until it’s mathematically sealed we have Hope but it’s now only a glimmer
If we could have held on today I would have felt something might have been on the cards, but NL beckons
Can’t Believe that complete joy of “Yes we are back” in 2015 is gonna be snuffed out just a few seasons later
Plus we have the hassle with ownership issues rumbling on
Sad to be a mariners fan at the min
Come on Town!!

The fat lady is warming up as we speak

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

We cannot score goals and more importantly we cannot score when we need to put some space between ourselves and the opposition ( like today) vital moments and maybe a more proactive attitude when we have gone ahead, have done for us I'm afraid.

It is an astonishing achievement. Very few clubs are as ineptly run as to do that.

Fenty should stand up and accept responsibility.

And also exit stage left asap, while hanging his head in shame.

I just want him gone, so that we can start again with new owners. Seeing the back of him and his false economies will take some of the pain out of relegation because we will at last have some hope for the future.

At half time yesterday we were 3 points from safety, which proves it can turn around very quickly.

But our games will keep getting tougher now.  Dropped points against Carlisle, Salford and possibly Mansfield have stopped us being serious contenders to stay up instead of just having an outside chance.

We're clearly a better side now than at any other point in the season but it's coming too late I think.
